“Felt like home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Many families of our ski club stayed at The Inn at Steamboat for a 3 day race. Overall we had a wonderful experience. Every staff member was super nice and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate our hectic race schedule - from starting breakfast early and driving us around on demand. The 11 year old boys loved the outdoor pool and hot tub.

“A lovely friendly inn in Steamboat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed at The Inn at Steamboat for Christmas and New Year 2011. We found the rooms to be of a really generous size and the bed was incredibly comfortable with a lovely mattress topper that you sunk into.

The rooms are only serviced every couple of days but we didn't find this an issue (do you honestly change your bed sheets every day at home?). The rooms have a coffee maker and the fridge in the room is great for keeping snacks and drinks in.

There is also a pool, hot tub and gym on the premises and whilst we didn't use the pool, other guests did during their stay so it was obviously well heated even in the winter months. The temperature of the hut tub was perfect and we found the whole leisure area very clean.

The Inn at Steamboat also put on a continental breakfast each morning which consists of bagels, fruit, yogurt, waffles and cereals which is enough to keep you going for a morning on the mountain.

As far as location goes, the Inn at Steamboat is just under a mile from the ski lifts but the hotel runs a shuttle bus from 8am to 5pm to and from the lifts. Just put you name down in the morning for the time you want to be taken to the lifts, and call in the afternoon when you want picking up. The free resort shuttle bus stop is also just at the top of the road which takes you to the lifts, and then on into the actual town of Steamboat Springs, or if you're feeling energetic, it is only about a 10/15 minute walk to the ski slopes.

Finally, in respect of the staff at the Inn at Steamboat, Joe the manager and his wife looked after us really well making suggestions for activities (Strawberry Park Hot Springs for starters) and putting on hot chocolate and marshmallows toasted over the open fire in the lobby on New Year's Eve.

Overall a really enjoyable stay.

“Just OK. Really hated the bed.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

My husband and I stayed three nights, but didn't spend much time at the hotel. We arrived late and had to call a number to get the code to the lock box for our key. We left early each morning before the staff showed up, and returned after they left. I stopped by to drop off my Groupon voucher on the last day and the kid behind the counter just stared at me blankly. The hot tub was very hot the first two nights and lukewarm the third night. We both really HATED the bed. It is a big squishy pillow-top thing. We both got sore necks from resting our heads on the thick, hard pillows and everything else sinking deeply into the mattress. It causes you to roll towards your partner to the middle of the bed. I travel a lot for work, and it's the most uncomfortable hotel mattress I've slept on. I was surprised to read other reviews saying they loved the bed. Neither of us could find a comfortable position. We knew there would be no breakfast from looking at their site (Go to Winona's downtown!) and didn't mind not getting the room cleaned. You can exchange towels by the pool if you really need to. WiFi worked just fine. I stayed at a more run-down place in town last month for the same price, so, with the Groupon deal, this was a better value.

Room Tip: We stayed at the far end away from the pool and it was quiet.

“Ok, but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Like many others, we stayed here because of a LivingSocial coupon. However, in fairness, I felt I should review the property as if we had paid full price. In looking at in terms of value received for full price, I felt it was average.

The building is very non-descript on the outside and is in the middle of a condominium development near the ski area. The person who checked us was dressed like a ski bum, jeans, ski hat on. We were first put in a room directly across from the front desk -- there is no lobby, and we could hear everyone coming and going. When we asked to be switched, first he said there weren't any other rooms, then said there was a suite, that we would have to pay extra for, but then magically discovered another room downstairs. Not very good customer service.

There were conflicting things going on at this property. There were nice things about the room, yet there were things done cheaply too. There were granite counter tops, but the vanity itself looked worn and beaten up. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were cheap and foam rubber. The back door card key lock was broken, so we couldn't get in that way. On the plus side, it was very quiet at night.

Also, we were expecting to get breakfast based on their website. Then when we arrived, there was a sign posted at the desk, saying there is no breakfast during fall months. I think at a minimum, they should say something when you make the reservation.

Would I stay here again -- probably not, especially if it was full price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is away from front desk.

“Good Value for What you Pay”

My wife and I stayed at this lodge and also got the Living Social deal so it was only $70 a night which isn't too bad for what you get. I really don't understand all the nit picking from the other reviewers but I found this place to be pretty good. The outside decor is nothing outstanding but that is entirely made up by the spacious rooms with fridges, granite countertops, and some of the most amazing beds I have ever slept in. We had a nice view of the mountains so we were able to use our balcony to have a drink and admire the scenery. The hot tub and pool were very relaxing and extremely well maintained. I enjoyed it so much I didn't even realize we didn't get our basket or the other minor details about which other reviewers are complaining. Since we came during the off season, there was no breakfast but we grabbed some bagels and such from Safeway and used their toasters and microwaves to prepare breakfast. Good wifi and great TV with all the necessary channels. Personnel was very nice and responsive and overall it was an enjoyable stay. I have already bought another deal from Groupon to stay here again.
