“Great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here in the fall and had a great visit. We were pleasantly suprised by how nice this motel was. Convient location and we walked a short distance into the town during the day and evening without difficulty. I was able to take my bike along the trail to enjoy a beautiful fall day while he fly fished a short distance away. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in.

“Went beyond my expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Visited Steamboat over December for a 5 day ski trip. We chose the Rabbit Ears because of the price. It was affordable, on the free city bus line, and within walking distance to great downtown shops and restaurants. I honestly thought the hotel couldn't have been that nice for the price, but we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival.

The room was extremely clean, maintained very well every day by the maid, had a great balcony and view, and even included a microwave and refrigerator! It was quiet at night and only a few blocks away from great downtown spots. Highly recommend Bistro CV for a nice, little-more-than-casual dinner. We will definitely come back to this hotel!

They also provide a continental breakfast which mainly breads. It would be milk, OJ, coffee, bagels, prepackaged waffles, english muffins, toast, cereal, yogurt, and oranges. Considering we were going skiing after breakfast every morning, the breakfast was somewhat lacking. We need more protein such as eggs and meat to prepare us better, but you can't really complain for a free continental breakfast.

Also, this is definitely an "older person" hotel. My boyfriend and I are in our late 20's, but when we checked in, the older lady scolded us and said we'd "be in a lot of trouble if we had a party." A party? Really? Do we look like we're 16? But she was friendly and pleasant other than that.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 2nd floor have a nice balcony. Rooms facing the back overlook the river and mountain.

“Don't pass this up based on the word 'motel'!”

I’m surprised this place isn't rated higher!

Rabbit Ears is affordable, quiet, clean, and comfortable within a short walking distance of town. The Ski House, snowmobiling tour, skiing, and snow tubing companies all picked up at the lobby. Our room had the most beautiful view of the river.

Don’t lump Rabbit Ears in with negative stereotypes associated with motels. This place is kitschy fun!

“Nice Location next to the Yampa River”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Rabbit Ears on a Friday night in late Sept. 2011. We stayed in the building closest to the river on the second floor. Nice to open your sliding glass doors and hear the river rushing by; however, even though the rooms are nonsmoking, the hotel allows people to smoke on the balconies. I was trying to read on the balcony and was surrounded by smoke. People next to me, and down below smoking on their balcony and all the smoke came right onto our balcony and into our room. When I first entered the room, I thought it smelled a little like cigarete smoke, but thought I was just mistaken. Now I know why, people don't smoke in the rooms (nonsmoking); however, they go out on the balcony with the sliding doors open and the smoke comes right into the rooms for the next guest to have to smell. My allergies did not do well. So keep doors and windows closed.
The rooms were clean; however, a little dated and dark. Decent light breakfast. Nice, friendly staff. Probably wouldn't stay here again because of the smoking problem. Also saw numerous large dogs on property, so a dog friendly motel. However, if you have allergies to dogs, you might not want to stay here either unless they have nondog rooms available.

Room Tip: Rooms along the river are nice. They are a little more money, but nice to hear the river.

“Best Customer Service we experienced on entire trip ! Super Clean Rooms, Great for Pets with grass going down to river!”

We were a little unsure how this would turn out due to the age of the motel. We were blown away and overly impressed with the upkeep they have done to keep it modern.
The beds were excellent, the rooms were so nice and super clean that we were surprised at the cost.... Very reasonable ! We loved the location right on the river with easy access to a walking path for your furry family to stroll. The front desk ladies were super friendly, and helped with great suggestions on where to go for different activities. The always greeted us with such sunny personalities. Thank you Thank you Thank you !! We will be spreading the word on how great everything was !! Look forward to returning for skiing.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with balcony overlooking the river !! You wont regret it !
