Visited Steamboat over December for a 5 day ski trip. We chose the Rabbit Ears because of the price. It was affordable, on the free city bus line, and within walking distance to great downtown shops and restaurants. I honestly thought the hotel couldn't have been that nice for the price, but we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival.
The room was extremely clean, maintained very well every day by the maid, had a great balcony and view, and even included a microwave and refrigerator! It was quiet at night and only a few blocks away from great downtown spots. Highly recommend Bistro CV for a nice, little-more-than-casual dinner. We will definitely come back to this hotel!
They also provide a continental breakfast which mainly breads. It would be milk, OJ, coffee, bagels, prepackaged waffles, english muffins, toast, cereal, yogurt, and oranges. Considering we were going skiing after breakfast every morning, the breakfast was somewhat lacking. We need more protein such as eggs and meat to prepare us better, but you can't really complain for a free continental breakfast.
Also, this is definitely an "older person" hotel. My boyfriend and I are in our late 20's, but when we checked in, the older lady scolded us and said we'd "be in a lot of trouble if we had a party." A party? Really? Do we look like we're 16? But she was friendly and pleasant other than that.
Room Tip: Rooms on the 2nd floor have a nice balcony. Rooms facing the back overlook the river and mountain.
