“Best value in Steamboat”

Stayed here for three days last weekend for a spur of the moment ski trip. We saw that a good storm system was moving in and promising the best powder yet in a slow ski season. Booked through a well known "name your price" website and scored an incredible bargain. I kept thinking that over the course of the weekend, I would figure out why this place was available so cheap. Turns out, I was just lucky. This is by far the best Holiday Inn I have stayed at. I usually opt for 4 star hotels but since this was last minute, I just wanted a good value and comfy bed. I got that and much more.

It started with the employees. All extremely friendly and genuinely glad to have us. The room was very comfortable & recently updated with flat screens, granite counters etc. The on site restaurant was very good, definitely not your typical hotel restaurant. The shuttle service to and from the ski area was convenient, fast and again super friendly. The kids loved the indoor pool and hot tub area which was immaculately clean and perfect temps for both.

The only downside I can find for this property is that it is neither downtown nor in the ski village, which would both be preferred locations for obvious reasons. For us, it was not much of a sacrifice. We were able to drive downtown in ten minutes to enjoy restaurants and shopping, and the shuttle to the ski mountain took about 5 minutes each way. Sure, skiing in and out of your condo is great but those properties get top dollar for that convenience. Downtown hotels here tend to be older and less appointed for the same price if not higher. If this had been a friends trip or even just adults, perhaps the ability to walk home a block or so from one of the many saloons or restaurants would have been more attractive. For us, it was in bed by 10 and up the next morning to ski so that was never an issue.

Steamboat itself is a great destination for skiers and boarders, with an amazing mountain and a town with tons of authentic western charm but none of the pretentiousness of Vail and Aspen. In the summer it is equally beautiful with incredible outdoor adventure at every turn. Either way, the humble Holiday Inn is our new place in Steamboat and we will be back.

Room Tip: The back of the property is quieter and has views of the ski runs, although it is a longer walk to g...

We are always pleased when our accommodations and services are well received. We offer more services than any other hotel similar to us, and we certainly are fairly priced. It is often not the cost of a room night, but the value received that makes us enjoy spending the money, isn't it? Thanks again for your kind review!

“Fantastic Service above and beyond”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs for 2 weeks at the end of Jan 2012. Whilst there my wife had a skiing accident on the mountain requiring several trips to the hospital and no amount of dealing with insurers back home. With these problems and many other things Barbara and her team at this hotel were superb, better than we could have ever expected from a hotel. With repeated shuttle bus runs to and from the hospital, from umpteen faxes to the insurers, to sorting out telephone numbers when the insurers didn't understand dialling codes, and all this with a freindly attitude and genuine concern. By the end of the holiday we felt part of the Holiday Inn Steamboat family, because that's what they are - this is a big chain hotel with a family run hotel feel.

Special mention also to Elizabeth and the rest of the guys in Rex's, who looked after us and fed us with the most superb breakfasts anywhere in Steamboat, not to mention the great Pizza's and burgers if you were too weary from skiing to venture downtown.

All in all we love steamboat, and despite this year's misadventures we will go back there soon and when we do, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere other than at the Holiday Inn

Thanks Guys

Room Tip: Would thoroughly recommend the new King Suites, just more room and better amenities for little extra...

“Perfect place for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Steamboat for a long ski weekend. They allowed us to check-in early, their shuttle took us to/from the ski mountain (very convenient), we returned to a GREAT dinner at Rex's (the restaurant hotel) that was very affordable (kids eat free for dinner & breakfast). The kids enjoyed splashing in the pool, we soaked our tired legs, and then enjoyed our complimentary cocktail in the bar. It was a busy weekend, so there was a long wait in the restaurant on the 2nd night, but ultra-convenient with shuttle service, the microwave and mini-fridge in the room.

I'd recommend it to other families in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Ask for the mountain view, which is away from the main highway and backs up to parking. Very conveni...

“Good location, on site restaurant, great fitness center.”

Steamboat is one of my favorite small towns in Colorado. They managed the transition from cowboy town to ski destination without loosing their sense of history. The HI is on the east edge of town but still close to everything. They have recently renovated so the rooms are fresh and comfortable. The fitness center is a s good as any in Colorado and they have both indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs depending on the. No need to leave after a long day as they have a great restaurant on site.

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms also mean a slope facing room in many cases.

“Great ski trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We stayed here from Dec 3 - Dec 9, 2011. The 1-king bed suite was comfortable, clean, and recently updated. The mini-fridge and microwave made it easy to make a quick breakfast or lunch before heading to the mountain. We also hit up either the outdoor hot tub or indoor pool and hot tub almost every day.

The shuttle service back and forth from the mountain was awesome - the drop off point is a 2 minute walk to the gondola. All of the drivers were friendly, helpful, and prompt. Also, all of the people at the front desk (especially Clay and Alayna?) were very cool and gave us some great advice.

We were really happy with anything we had from Rex's, whether it was fresh dough pizzas, burgers, or breakfast. Good happy hour specials and microbrews on tap.

Overall, very nice experience and glad we stayed here.
