For how much this place costs I at least expect comfortable mattresses, the beds felt like they were 20 years old! Everyone in my family was exhausted by the end of the trip because of the terrible sleeping situation. The location was good and the rest of the condo was ok. Again, for the price I really think some upgrading is in order.

“Trash and Service Pit from Steamboat Springs!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

I have been visiting Steamboat for the last 18 years and this place do not represents the friendliness and service that anyone could find in this town. I paid twice as much as I had paid in the past for a pit hole with a kitchen from the seventies and when things started to blow up, then I could not find any manager able to fix the issues. I am talking from heater thermostat settings by trial and error, lack of appliances, washer machine broken without a proper response to not having housekeeping for almost two weeks of staying. A total rip-off!!!

“Spacious, convenient & clean!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2010

Travelled to Steamboat for 1st time with my husband, 10 & 13 year old kids, stayed from March 26th through April 4th. Booked the unit at Phoenix through Mountain Resorts at a really reasonable price, and was quite happy with the accomodations! The unit was called a 2 bed, 2 bath, but it actually had 3 bathrooms (Yay, I had one to myself!) We stayed at #125, really clean,(although a little dated), tons of space, fully equipped kitchen, my only complaint is that the master king size bed was really uncomfortable! Thankfully there are lots of extra pillows which we used for back support, etc. The beds in the kids bedroom looked like they could also be upgraded, but my kids did sleep like rocks, so, I guess they were okay. We all loved the heated pool & 2 hot tubs! To get to the gondola, just walk across the street through a small parking lot, and you're there! (Do not take the shuttle, you'll have to walk much further from the drop off area to the gondola). It was great to have a garage to throw the skis& boots in at the end of the day. The shuttle service was superb!!! (No need to rent a car) The drivers are super friendly, and had great recommendations for dining, shopping, activities, etc. Everything's 5-10 minutes away. Recommend for dinner The Orr House and Mambo Italiano, skip the Mexican restaurant down the road from condo, way overpriced! Overall, very happy, would definitely stay there again!

“Phoenix unit #129 - stay somewhere else”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2010

The Phoenix at Steamboat Springs is conveniently locatd to the gondola and ski area. Unit #129 is out dated and definitely needs some work. The TV's are old CRT units and the main TV did not work properly. We rented movies in the evening and the DVD player did work. (There is a VHS player with many old VHS tapes is you are so inclined to watch them.)
Light bulbs in the unit were burned out and the coffee maker (looks like it is 20+ years old) did not work. Coffee at The Phoenix main desk is great.
The housekeeping service only consisted of replacing towels and emptying the trash every other day. No change in bed linens. We had to vacuum the unit ourselves as the floor was not clean.
The bed linens are old and dates. One of the kind size pillows had a standard size pillow case. The window blinds are an old mauve color.
The unit would be nice if the owner spent some money to update window treatments, bedding and some kitchen small appliances.
I would not stay here again. There are too many nice options within the same area to stay.

Paul at the main desk was always very helpful and provided good restaurant recommendations. He is great!

“Great location & very comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2009

Steamboat was gorgeous in late September -- golden aspen leaves, and beautiful sunny weather. The Phoenix is located across the street from access to the ski gondola . There is lots of construction and new development going on at the ski base and we look forward to going back this winter to try out the new lifts. The Phoenix is an older complex (built early 80's I think) but everything was very clean and comfortable. It is surrounded by nice resort properties. There is a ski rental shop, market/deli and fancy Mexican restaurant (La Montana) right around the corner, and a family restaurant (Snowbird) right across the street on the way to the ski slopes. The units have washer dryers and garages, which is a plus. There are steps -- at least one flight up to get to the front door of your unit. But the garages are accessed from the ground floor so presumably you could park your ski gear in the garage rather than lugging it upstairs. The unit was very comfortable.
