“Cozy, charming, and convenient lodge for ski weekend"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

I stayed with six other friends at the Chateau Chamonix for a graduate school ski weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find our 3 bedroom lodge to be tastefully decorated with all the necessary amenities for us to feel at home. We stayed in the 300 lodges; while I did see one reviewer write that it was a long walk, I didn't find it to be that inconvenient and rather appreciated the newer renovated building. We had a great kitchen and everything we needed to prepare nice meals every night. Our master suite had a steam shower and a jacuzzi/bathtub--a wonderful addition that we took advantage of after a full day of skiing!! I was really happy with the amount of space we had and how comfortably the 7 of us felt for the four nights! PS I was also happy that all the rooms had humidifiers to combat the dry air!

“Wow, what a wonderful place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2010

This place is great! Went there with 3 of my friends from college kind of a reunion and this place is almost too pleasant. The front desk staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed in a three bedroom condo which was beautifully furnished and amazingly clean. My wife and I even tried seeing if we could find one thing that was dirty kind of like a game and needless to say not one thing was found! One day my friend who was a little drunk spilled redwine on the white-ish carpet so we called front desk and someone was there almost instantly. The housekeeping staff were wonderful as well, very friendly. We found this place by referral from a friend who is an owner at this complex and boy o boy was he right. It is kind of a walk to the mountain but hey who doesnt love a little warm exercise! All in all this place is a hidden gem.

“Nice condo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2008

We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo and it was an excellent condo. It was very nicely furnished and had an excellent floorplan. However, we were in the 300 building which is across the parking lot from the slopes. It was a long hike in ski boots back to the condo every day. There was a ski valet to check the skis every day, so we did not have to carry the skis, but the condo was not a place to easily stop back at during the day. When skiing down in the morning, it involved a lot of poling around the kid's ski area to get to the gondola. It is an expensive place for a place that I would not consider ski-in/ski-out for many condos in the complex.

“Oh, what a pleasant place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2007

Stayed in a 3BR, 3 bath condo that was fabulous. Check-in was easy. Since it is summer, got it on a special-- stay 2 nights, get 1 night free. So for $760 for 3 nights this felt like a good value.

There is no AC, but ceiling fans in all rooms. Place was warm during day, but cooled off at night. Master bath has steam shower and whirlpool bathtub. Plenty of kitchenware. Main room has stereo, each room has tv, there is free internet connection, The place was very clean, but had no housekeeping for the 3 nights we were there despite notices that said they'd be in daily to provide clean towels and pick-up the trash.

Too far from town to walk, but there was a public bus running just outside the complex. It is within walking distance to several restaurants and convenience store.

Had quite the surprise one morning when we went out to the car--a black bear had found the trash bins and was sitting not 20 feet away munching on trash. The animal rescue peope had been called, but we probably watched him for 10-15 min, before taking off.

  • Liked — It was spacious and extremely comfortable
  • Disliked — They didn't pick up the trash during our 3 nights there

Our large group of skiers have much experience with many different resorts, and our condo at Chateau Chamonix was outstanding. The condo was perfect and very comfortable. The staff were kind and helpful. We would recommend this to all who ski Steamboat.
