This is our 3rd visit to Steamboat Springs. This is our first time to stay at the Torian Plum. The location of unit 702 is one of the best here! It is right on the ski slopes with an amazing view overlooking the the shops and skiing below as well as the slopes above! There was a full moon out making the snow glisten. Just below us are great restaurants and shopping! (Cafe Diva and the Slopeside Grill are our favorites!) to get to the slopes, we just walk out our front door (which faces the Valley) onto an outdoor hallway to an indoor elevator. We take the elevator down to the 1st floor(the floors could be marked a little better!), walk out of the building, across the paved walkway to the snow! It takes probably 2 minutes! We have never been this close before!! We even have lunch here now because it so close saving us $100's!
Our unit itself is also just as nice on the inside as it is great a location! It is a 2 bedroom 2 bath with 5 star comfortability and ambiance! When you first walk up to the unit, on the right is a secure ski gear storage locker. :) There is a stained glass plum window on the door. When you open the door, immediately on your left you see a NICE fully equipped kitchen with 3 inch thick granite countertops! Immediately to your right in the foyer is a mud room setup in that there is a built in wooden bench for taking off your boots. There is room underneath it to place 2-3 pairs of boots here. Above the bench are a series of wooden pegs for your cold weather jackets and cubbies above this for storing your ski helmets. From here you enter a perpendicular hallway. To the right are the bedrooms, bathrooms and washroom. To the left is the kitchen, living room, and dining room. The kitchen, living room and dining room are all based in the open area concept and it works beautifully! From any of these 3 rooms you ban look out the windows and onto the balcony to savor the panoramic views. The dining table will hold 6-8 people and the bar on the adjacent kitchen has 10 barstools. ( the first 5 of these barstools are great for big people! The are 16 in in diameter, 4 inch padded leather, and they swivel! The others are plain but nice for entertaining for large groups. The kitchen includes a waffle maker, panini maker, and every kind of alcoholic beverage glass you might need. There is also a nice blender! The track lighting and Starbucks style drop lights complete with dimmer switches add a sophisticated effect as well. The dining room is decorated with snowshoes on the wall and of course, an antler chandelier! The tables itself has a rustic feel. Next to it are 4 foot high shelves that offer dvd's and book to read. In between the dining room and living room is a 40" flat screen hd tv that everyone on this side of the house can see. It is hung on the mantle above the gas lit fireplace. Now we enter the living room which has a sofa bed sleeper,( which my 18 year old stepson said was very uncomfortable, so he opted to convert the bed back to the sofa and sleep on it that way) a loveseat and a chair. All of the furnishings are new and of high quality. Above the sofa hangs a longhorn set of horns. From here, I walked onto the balcony where there are 2 patio chairs, a small table, a sculpture of a bunny and Christmas lights. I have already mentioned the entertaining and exquisite view from here.
Coming back inside and heading left towards the bedrooms is a foyer table with a lamp, mirror, and family photos of the owners. they look so happy! When you pass the kitchen looking to your 9 o'clock and proceeding clockwise is the guest bedroom, the guest bathroom, the laundry closet, the master bedroom and then at your 3 o'clock, the front door/mud room. The guest bedroom has 2 twin beds, a nightstand that separates them and a 5 ft. Tall chest of drawers. It has a sliding glass door closet as well. It also has a window that faces the slopes. it does not have a Tv which would have come in handy for keeping our boys busy! Next to the guest bedroom is the guest bathroom. it is spacious but only
Y includes a standing shower. Beside that, in a closet, is the double decker washer and dryer.
it is not very big but it gets the job done. Following the clock we now have the master bedroom. it is spacious and cozy. It has a very nice king size bed with very comfy mattresses! The closet here is mirrored as well. There is a 32" tv in this room. The master bath is in here and includes a jacuzzi bathtub!
Speaking of tubs, we used the Plum's last night. They were all marvelous after a day on the slopes! First we took the elevator down to the indoor hot tubs located in our building. the hot tub room has 2 huge hot tubs, a sauna, 2changing rooms and a shower. These are only partitioned by a curtain that has gaps so if you like your privacy then put on your swimsuit before you go! After we used the indoor hot tubs we visited the outdoor hot tubs. Many reviews stated this walking to the Creekside Building to get to these outdoor hot tubs as a pain. So I asked about how to do this. You can go above ground but it is cold and more hectic. What we did is we took the elevator to the G ground floor. We walked down the corridor to the underground parking garage. We then took a sharp left to the Creekside corridor. We walked to the other elevator from here and it let us out on the 1st floor. We walked to the right down a long hallway until we reached the outside door. We went out and walked 20 feet to the really hot hot tubs! It felt great!!!
As far as the rest of the trip goes, we come here a week before ski season starts so we can take advantage of the ski free package. Check out Steamboat.com for more info on that. We rented our ski gear from the Ski Haus which always posts discounts in the travel brochures. plus you can order in advance for 15% off.
