“Felt like home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We went to the Alpine Rose B&B for a weekend getaway and it was the perfect choice of place to stay! Jo and Bob, the owners, are very friendly and welcoming. They want you to feel at home and will do whatever to make that happen. We spent time laying on the hamock and pitching horeshoes in the backyard as well as exlporing Steamboat. The breakfasts were amazing and very accomodating. I fell ill while we were there and missed breakfast but they happily fixed me whatever I wanted later and let us check out late. I would go back!

“Great B & B and great local advice”

We turned up on spec and were greeted warmly, given advice on the best places to eat. We arrived to find the "Ride to the Rockies" cycle event was on in town so 2000 participants and there extended back up.

The owners gave us great advice on how to avoid these bikes on our next day trip after a very full breakfast of home made bread, fruit and sausage.

“Fine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2010

Well, the owners are very pleasant people, but getting them to return calls or emails is a real pain in the neck. The breakfasts are okay, they are basically one-dish meals and then a side thrown in. Not a lot of thought or care, but tastes good. Also I found it really rigid that she expects people to eat all at the same time--like a boarding house!! I am not sue why she posts the breaktime as being in a range of time when she won't feed you unless everyone is at the table (ugh). I get the overall impression that they are both bored of the business because they do not appear to make much effort in anything.

Aside from interactions with the hosts, the accommodations are very nice! Good, plush towels, nice bed, very nice robes and blankets, etc. Decorated nicely and quite comfortable. The walls are thin--expect to be woken up by someone's shower in the AM. Not for sleeping in or romance ;)

I think it boils down to what you want overall and not the fault of the owners. I personally do NOT like being forced to eat with strangers at a fixed time, and I like an innkeeper to ANSWER emails and ph calls. However, it is nice and clean and comfortable and you could do MUCH worse :)

“Great B&B, can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2009

Wow! We can't say enough good things about The Alpine Rose Bed & Breakfast. We just stayed 2 nights but would love to stay there again. The hosts were very friendly and accomodating. The room was wonderful, spotless, lovely decorations and the bed was the best nights sleep ever! The breakfast was fit for a king, we ate well and were very satisfied with our stay. We highly recommend this B&B, its convenient to downtown, on a quiet residential street. The host, Bob, knew the area well and he let us borrow some snowshoes for the day! We will plan on going back to Steamboat soon and could not think of a better place to stay!

  • Liked — beautiful on the inside, great breakfast!

“Inexperienced but conveniently located”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2008

The good news is that 1) the Alpine Rose is conveniently located and within walking distance to the downtown area, 2) the rooms are clean and simply decorated, and 3) breakfast is limited but fresh and delicious.

The bad news is that 1) the bathroom smells terribly of mildew due to dirty shower curtains, 2) the hosts are pleasant but have only lived in town for several years so they were a very poor resource, 3) the big screen television (which was 15 feet away from the table) was on during breakfast, and 4) guests are expected to sit directly next to each other at the kitchen table while the hosts awkwardly hovered nearby and even more awkwardly tried to spark group conversation.

The location is the best feature of the Alpine Rose. It is on a quiet neighborhood street and only 10 minutes from downtown. With some work, it could be a wonderful place.
