This is our third time staying at Gateway Inn & Suites, and it definitely is our number one choice when it comes to lodging choices in Salida. Our favourite is Honeymoon Suite, however we also enjoyed King room with whirpool tub (#101).
Staff is very pleasant and professional every time, and attantive to our needs.
Plantifull Continental Breakfast selections in the morning, we enjoy our waffles every time!
Salida is a great paradise for outdoor adventure all year long:skiing, smowmobiling in the winter or rafting & ziplinging in the summer.
We will be back soon & looking forward to our stay at Gateway!

We stayed here 3 days in January. I will definitely stay again if I return to the area. Being from Houston, we didn't know anything about skiing, however the clerk on duty during the day, Tina, was exceptionally helpful in telling us about the recreational things to do, where to get inexpensive equipment, where to see the most deer, and many more valuable tips. She made the stay so pleasant. The room was clean, roomy, and a great value; parking was right outside the door, too - very convenient.
BTW, eat at Wallbangers - great food, inexpensive. Avoid Quincy's like the plague; food and drinks were practically inedible they were so bad. In fact they were inedible, but we had to eat, but left over half of it.

We stayed 3 nights the week of Christmas.

The front desk staff was extremely helpful. We were trying to avoid snow storms so our arrival and departure times were strange. We actually arrived at 6:00 am and left at 5:00 pm. They let us check in early and check out late. We were going to be driving through the night so they let us fill out coffee and hot chocolate thermos and get a muffin for the ride. (The only glitch was the owner saw us doing it and was quick to tell us we weren't allowed to. When we told him we had permission, he didn't apologize, but left us alone.)

As other reviews have said, the hotel is not fancy and the rooms are not huge (it was originally an Econolodge), but it is clean and well maintained.

We really liked this motel because of the value we found. The rooms were smallish but clean and done-up well. The beds were comefy, bathroom was adequate and the overall comfort was good. The continental brkfst was very good....everything was kinda automated with a waffle batter dispensor, juice & milk dispensors, fresh fruit and so on....a wide variety.
