“Very nice”

A friend took me here for my birthday. We spent the night (in Rm 301) and each had an hour massage. We both felt that we have had better massages and that they were over priced but the sauna was quite nice. Our room was a very nice southwest style room with a full kitchen. It had an amazing view which was beautiful at sunset. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub large enough for two with a steam shower and glass roof. The living room area was very comfortable with a gas fireplace and satellite tv. There was a semi-private two person hot tub that we enjoyed. There's also a pool and hot tub for all the guests which was especially beautiful at night when they lit a fire. Really the only thing they should add is a staff member who will take your luggage to your room. There are no elevators and I have problems with my muscles so my friend had to drag both suit cases up 3 flights of stairs. It's worth looking at their website to see the photos and other amenities.

“Beautiful Location, Fairly Priced for the Area”

We ended up in a "condo" room, #301. We had our own outdoor hot tub, fireplace and an awesome steam shower with a skylight over it. Full kitchen, including dishwasher, satellite tv and comfy furniture. For $155 a night I think that was definitely a fair price. The view from the third floor was stunning, especially at sunset. It was quiet and tranquil.

The pool and hot tub for lodge use were both very nice. There was a fire by the hot tub after dark and the grounds were very attractively lit as well. The lobby of the lodge is gorgeous! High ceilings with floor to roof windows. Beautiful indoor greenery and water features. The breakfast offered was pretty standard, but drinks are available all day.

As far as the spa goes, I found it highly overpriced... but that seems to be the theme in spas these days. $80 for a one hour massage and it was mediocre. The spa was very clean and nice, however. The sauna was just what I needed and quiet. They even offer yoga classes!

Room Tip: There are no elevators. If you have trouble with stairs you must pick a ground level room and get s...

“Nice on the surface...”

We stayed in one of the private rooms with a rooftop hottub for part of our honeymoon trip and it was okay, but definitely not worth the cost. The hottub was great, but the room had some issues... the TV was messed up and would not focus, so couldn't really watch a movie. After camping multiple days, that wasn't cool. The artistic design of the ceiling also meant that the wall between the bathroom and rest of the room didn't meet the ceiling so steam from the shower filled the room, and lacked privacy. The windows looked out over a stairway, an unkempt lawn and alley, and kind of the mountains if you looked over a wall.

Also, the pool heather was broken and so the pool was not being heated. Although it was sunny and nice out, we couldn't swim because the water was around 50 degrees. This was mentioned on check in, but no discount offered.

In the morning, there was no hot water. I tried to call the desk but, alas, the room phone was broken. So we just checked out early... the clerk was helpful and apologetic and took $50 off the room because of the shower, but I think that should have been the price to begin with. We travel all over Colorado and stay in lots of different types of places. This is at the high end of what we spend, but other than architectural design, there is nothing that really sets this place above your average decent midrange hotel.

Room Tip: Really check out the room descriptions and pictures online, they are of course shot to make the room...

“Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

My wife and I stayed here Halloween weekend and loved it! The rooms were nice (but not fancy) and the Spa area was perfect. Huge sauna and nice hot tub. The young staff was very accomidating and helpful. We will return.

“Chipeta Sun Lodge & Spa Wedding”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

We hosted our wedding at The Chipeta Sun Lodge & Spa in August 2011. The facilities were wonderful and the staff was helpful in recommending local resources for our event. One of our main objectives for our wedding was to have an intimate setting with all of our guests staying in one place and to host an onsite dinner and reception. The Chipeta Sun Lodge was ideal for this. We were able to book the entire lodge for our 50 guests and there are a wide variety of rooms to accommodate, families, couples, individuals, and pets. The Kiva and Pool Deck areas were a great location for the reception and the Rooftop Deck has spectacular views. I would recommend the The Chipeta Sun Lodge if you are looking for a place in the area to host an intimate event or simply have a weekend retreat.
