We stayed with Mitch and Kathy at the Redstone Cliffs Lodge in October 2009 after spending the entire summer in Redstone at the campground. They were wonderful hosts. We styed in room 5 with our dog Maxze. We had dinner with them one night and had the best enchaldas I have ever eaten. Vincente and Emilio were also extraordinary hosts. Vincente took us on a Blue Grouse hunting trip and we were successful and had a wonderful time

“Charming and friendly”

Mitch runs this motel with the warmth, friendliness and personal attention you might expect from an upscale B&B. Nothing is too much trouble, and he just has that knack of making you feel at home.

The room wasn't large, but the hand-made quilts and "log cabin" furniture made it feel welcoming. The hot-tub, overlooking the Crystal River, is an ideal place to soak out strains from a day's hiking.

Redstone itself is a charming and peaceful little town in beautiful scenery, with easy access to wonderful hiking or sightseeing. We were very sorry to leave.

“Wonderful experience will earn my repeat business!”

Redstone is beautiful! A tucked away, one road mountain village with the friendliest inhabitants! Mitch and Kathy, proprietors of the Redstone Cliffs Lodge, could not have been more gracious as our hosts!
Driving in one may think: "just another motel". However, it is very clean, pet friendly, smoke free (I'm a smoker and that's ok!), off Hwy 133 so it is very quiet. The motel is right on the river where we (and other motel guests) had a campfire (summer night got cool!) and there is a Jacuzzi!
I kept thinking, "if I had a Honey.... this would be a great romantic place! Ironically, I met one guest couple celebrating their honeymoon and another couple celebrating their silver anniversary!

Thanks Mitch and Kathy. Hope to see you again very soon! Susie

“Charming, dog friendly village on the Crystal River”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2008

We stayed 4 nights in Redstone the first part of August and fell in love with it. The Redstone Cliffs Lodge is our first choice because of the interior decor and the "back yard" along the river where one can sit and enjoy or bar-be-que or soak in the hot tub. Westayed with our 3 dogs in Ste. 2 and the price was just a little less than The Redstone Inn were we also stayed in a huge ground floor room that opened to the side parking lot. Dave, the proprietor of Redstone Cliffs is gracious.
Of course The Inn is 100 years old, the bathroom has not been updated in probably 40 years, but OK.
There is a wetbar and wine glasses, but no coffeepot or cups.
They expect guests to dine in the Inn's beautiful dining room or in the grill. The food was outstanding here and the charm abundant.
The Inn has an olympic swimming pool and health club.
We enjoyed the food and friendly staff at The Crystal Club Cafe where we dined in the grassy yard at a table with umbrella where our dogs were also welcome.
The Redstone Art Center is a serious showcase for one of a kind art, and there is a marble sculpture garden outside along he river as well.
Another fun place for dinner is Woody's Cook Shack in Marble. Smoked meats includuing salmon and chicken. No liquor license so take your own wine. Go early to get a seat: small and popular.
Dogs ok outside on the wooden porch.

Be sure to take the tour of "The Castle," the home of robber baron Charles Osgood . Sue, the tour guide, dressed in period costume is a delightful fountain of knowledge, and kept us spell bound for the hour and a half tour. Not to be missed history of the coal mine and the town and the times!

“Wonderful time”

Great stay, great price! Right on the Crystal River & right in the heart of town. Very dog friendly! We stayed in suite #2, which was perfect. It has 2 rooms. One for the full kitchen, tv & couch. Another for the bedroom. The room was cozy, cute & clean. Our room had a back door that went right out to the riverside lawn (great for our dog too). There are plenty of lounging chairs facing the water, a hot tub, bbqs, & a fire pit (we rosted marshmellows!) The manager is very friendly, professional & helpful. This tiny town was very busy this weekend, but in our relaxed setting, we didn't notice anything but the amazing scenery. We hiked, went horseback riding, ate our breakfast next to the river, read on the front patio, ate at two great dog friendly restaurants, and cooked up a full dinner in our little kitchen corner. This was a great experience. We felt very at home.
