I am here for two weeks and this place has completely soured my opinion of this city and hotel chain. Why you ask? I am here for two weeks training at a first responder training site, which itself is great but the hotel is run by pompous little man. So here my horror story begins early Saturday morning of December 10 at 3:00 am another hotel customer and his friends were going down the hallway on the fifth floor banging on doors waking guest being drunk and disorderly. After some complaints the front desk sent a maintenance person that may have been 100 pounds soaking wet with his clothes on to investigate he found the guest and told them to be quiet, they went to their room and must have continued drinking because at 3:30 am they were back at it. At this point a fellow fireman got up and went into the hallway and told the four guest to shut up. He was then subsequently attacked receiving a stab wound essentially, in his upper lip that you could put your finger through into his mouth and a broken foot while he was repeatedly punched in the face. His injuries required that he be transported to the hospital by ambulance for stitches and x-rays. My friend then had to wake me to pick him up at the hospital. When I arrived in the lobby, there was a homeless person passed out intoxicated and unresponsive in the lobby, paramedics arrived while I was waiting for directions to the hospital and transportef him as well. Upon returning to the hotel we went to our rooms. The truly upsetting part is that this hotel is in a bad neighborhood and they have zero security, when they found out that another friend here training with us was a law enforcement officer who was also awakened the maintenance man that they sent to deal with the situation then hid behind him. Why was this drunk and clearly homeless person even allowed into the hotel. The other upsetting fact is that all weekend long nobody from the hotel management even checked on my injured friend who had a broken foot, making it painfully difficult to leave his room to get food or any other nessecities. The only time we talked to management was Monday evening after we requested a meeting with the general manager, whom we then were informed actually lives in the hotel. He then told us that they did what they could. When we asked him if he felt the hotel had a responsibility for the safety of his guest we were told that the conversation was over. I am truly disappointed and disheartened by this and will request to stay in another hotel in Colorado Springs and deal with the twice as long commute next time It will not be a Marriot. This is not the type of service I will accept.
