“Great place, wonderful breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed at the China Clipper Inn for 2 nights Jan 20 and 21 for our anniversary. The place was beautiful and what a relaxing weekend!! We stayed in the Premium 5 room, which has an outside entrance on the top floor, just past the back entrance into the house. I requested top floor overlooking the hot tub and they delivered. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast both mornings was wonderful. We enjoyed ours in the sunroom just off the dining room. Very very enjoyable. The Innkeepers were friendly, but let you have your space and privacy, which we like. We sat in the hot tub both evenings and it was just perfect. It was snowing the second night, which added to the aviance. We enjoyed how close the Inn was to everything, so we could just walk. We walked to the ice park and around town. They included passes to the hot springs, so we enjoyed a few hours there, also.
Would definitely return, but probably would upgrade to one of the other rooms. Don't get me wrong, ours was fine, but after a tour of the other rooms available, I fell in love with a few of the others!!!
We ate at the Buen Tiempo Mexican restaurant the first night and the Crab Spinach Enchilada's were to die for. Had lunch at the Ouray Brewery. The sweet potato fries and soup was awesome. The second night we ate at the Outlaw, which has wonderful steaks, but is a tad bit expensive. Unfortunately we did not eat all of our steaks, and forgot them in the fridge at the Clipper!! I was a bit upset, but too far gone when I realized it.

“Absolutely charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stayed here for two nights in January and loved the place. The Inn is impeccably clean and gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious. The owners were so nice and helpful. Our room had a fireplace, king bed, jetted tub and was beautiful. We ate per the owners recommendation at the Outlaw and loved it so much we went back the next night. We will be back for sure!!!

Room Tip: I don't think this place has a bad room.

“great owners, great breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

i loved this place. the owner was very friendly. unfortunately the hot tub was unusable while i was there and there was supposed to be a staging area outside my room for all the equipment I had, which i found crowded the next morning and unusable, disheartning. But the breakfast was fantastic and the owners attitude made up for the unavailabities. they were attentive and professional and i loved the use of the kitchen for teas. very nice room, good bed and decor, good location. I would highly recommend !

“Best chef in Ouray!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

The rooms at the China Clipper are immaculately clean and comfortable. The Inn is a museum of a world traveler's collected memorabilia. But the very best part of the experience is the hospitality of the Innkeepers, Ingrid and Hans. Hans is a 5 star breakfast chef; they are both warm and inviting.
