We stayed at the Box for the Ouray Ice Festival. Fine choice! We booked a queen room and had plenty of space for the overwhelming amount of stuff one has when one is ice climbing. The bed was comfortable, the fridge and microwave were useful. The room was clean and the decor was rustic but fresh. Nice hot spring pools. The room is served by geothermal heat, which means that temperature control comes via opening a window. Since the air is fresh and clean this is a good thing.

My only (very tiny) nitpicks with the Box is that I wish there were another blanket for the bed - I love a cool room snuggled under lots of covers, and would have appreciated another blanket to facilitate that. And, one could hear voices from other rooms (not through the window, funny enough, but through the somewhat thin walls). Neither nit was a deal-breaker, and when the place isn't packed to the gills for Ice Festival I doubt you'd hear another soul.

All in all, an excellent local hotel and a great place to serve as base camp for Ouray-area outdoor adventures.

Great hotel with relaxing hot tubs and nice staff. Since there aren't many options in town, a better breakfast would be nice. But overall great

The front desk staff went above and beyond to make my stay great. While I was skeptical of the hot springs (somehow I expected bigger--each seats only 3-4 adults who like each other), the selection of tubs and temps was nice. You can see some mountains, and the stars are fantastic. After a few days I became a huge fan since these don't dry out your skin like a hot tub and I could sit in these for hours. Very relaxing, super clean room, and the staff made me want to come back again.

I recently visited the Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs. I have been several time before and am always so pleased with the level of service and how great the rooms are. The hot tubs are the best. They are right outside the rooms and have incredible views.
I highly recommend the Box when you are in Ouray, these people know hospitality and the value of comfortable rooms.
