Cascade Falls Lodge is a very unpretentious little hotel a minute walk from the main street in Ouray, serving all your needs and a little bit extra. The lodge has a nice, relaxed feel, and caters for the type of people who like to keep their own food in a personal fridge in the room, and who like to sit out enjoying the quiet long into the evening. The room was basic but entirely comfortable, with a good sized double bed, ample space for storing items, and a pleasantly powerful shower. The owner Sandy was extremely nice, and even did a very big favour for myself and Mrs Beoirgra when we were caught in need of help (I won't say what it is lest all guests start to assume it is one of the services of the establishement). Suffice to say, it was very generous and made things much easier for us. This is one of the benefits of not using the many chain hotels, such as Best Western, that now seem to be springing up all over Ouray.
As a side note, I recommend the Bagel shop on the corner near the hotel, though the staff are incredibly rude; and the bookshop on the opposite side of the road which has an excellent stock of books ranging from rock climbing to kurt vonnegut.
