We stayed at Rivers Edge on an Ice Climbing trip. Although the kitchenette room was pretty small with us and all our gear, we would have been given a bigger room if we didn't need the kitchenette... oh well. The kitchenette was basic but amply supplied and the room had new tile, new carpet and furniture and was handsomely painted and decorated. Felt like a small hip apartment. The owners were attentive to our needs and friendly. We really enjoyed hanging out on the south facing porch on a sunny day. It seems like it would be a nice place to hang out in the summer as well, with picnic tables, a nice view of the river and gardens. The hot tub needs updating and the owners said they are getting 2 new hot tubs soon. Breakfast was basic carby hotel breakfast.

My boyfriend and myself stayed at River's Edge while volunteering for the Ouray Ice Festival. The location was superb, two blocks away from the community center and a block away from some of my favorite restaurants and bars. We had plenty of space to store our ice climbing gear and a great mini fridge to store food (we brought a few pre-made meals to save some money). The owners gave us an excellent price for the room - the best I found in town - and their service, hospitality, flexibility, and attention to detail was out of this world. As climbers, trying to stretch every dime, the continental breakfast, complete with make-your-own-waffles, home made chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies, eggs, and all the other usual works was out of this world. Not to mention they were local pioneers in having a hot tub that's open 24 hours - a blessing for sore and chilled climbing muscles.

I plan to stay at River's Edge every single time I return to Ouray. It may have been the most pleasurable, flexible, and delicious stay at a hotel I've ever had!

My wife and I have spent 2 months a year for the last 3 years. Before that we stayed at several other motels which were fine but not even close to Rivers Edge. We love the owners, the view, the atmosphere and everything about Rivers edge. My wife would move there now. Great town, great motel adn GREAT TIME!!!

It took an age to check in as first there was nobody around in reception and then when two people turned up there was confusion about who was supposed to be doing what. We certainly didn't feel the warm welcome that others have mentioned. With all the fuss we forgot to ask for a receipt but discovered when we were leaving the next day that people's receipts are just left on the reception desk for anyone to pick up because, again, there was nobody there.

The room was clean and the facilities were as advertised but there was such a crush in the breakfast room we left without eating - there was nowhere for us to sit and more people still trying to get in. Some folks were just grabbing a muffin or bagel and leaving. We saw no evidence of the good breakfast mentioned by some reviewers - just the usual cereal and a few baked goods.

OK but nothing special.
