“Artistic, Charming, Wonderful Stroll to Town (1 Block), Historic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2009

Our daughter was getting married at the Red Rocks Chapel, and booked our stay at The Cliff House Lodge which was 3 minutes away. We had never been to Colorado, and never stayed at a bed and breakfast, but enjoyed every minute! Our cottage was the Dino Den which was very private and had it's own hot tub in the front patio, a kitchen, dining area, living room, and 2 bedrooms, a soaking tub in the bathroom, and a shower. Kathy managed our stay, and was delightful and generous, and Samuel made sure we had fresh hot tub water, a clean patio, and fresh linens. Anything we needed, they were happy to help. The check-in office was comfy with books and movies to borrow, and opened up to a big wood floor room with floor to ceiling windows and leather sofas and tables and chair settees that reminded us of a cozy Lodge. The Cliff House Lodge featured local artists, and had lovely and exciting original area art on it's walls for beauty and for purchase. Being 5 minutes away from the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater, a stream, park and small river, as well as the Morrison Dinosaur Museum, the Lodge is a perfect location. The town of Morrison is quaint and is festive with visitors enjoying the mountain enclave with charming shops and local flavor. It is not far from Golden, Lakewood and Denver, but you feel as if you have discovered a gem. Wildflowers, birds, amazing red rock formations you can see from your lodge, as well as hanging geranium pots, sculptures tucked in amongst the landscaping, and the fresh smell of pine trees make you want to stay forever.

“romantic stay in morrison”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2008

My husband and I had a wonderful night at the cliff house after going to see the Police at Red Rocks. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was lent itself to a very romantic evening by the hot tub. Will be back!

the Cliff House would be up your alley. The property has not been kept up the way it should be for the per night cost. Tiny, cluttered cottages that haven't been updated for decades. Breakfast was part of the package and the plates for breakfast (served the next morning at 10am) were already set outside on the patio when we checked in . . . under trees, where bugs and other critters could crawl all over them. No thanks. We had booked 3 nights but fled after 1 - and no, we didn't have breakfast. (**we were also charged for all 3 nights months & months prior when we initially made the reservations. Be sure to see cancellation policy) The so-called bathroom was a converted closet that still had the slatted door, the shower a clear glass tube in the middle of the room. A strange place - even for a frequent and relatively easy-going travelers like us. After visiting the Cliff House Lodge, we made a pact to never again stay someplace that wasn't a "name brand" property.

“Enchanting, until...whoa!”

We loved this bed and breakfast from the moment we arrived. We stayed in the Dino Den, which, with champagne, was upwards of $270.00/night. We were thrilled to be so close to Red Rocks for a concert that night, though, we didn't care what the cost was. Everything was perfect, right up to the breakfast served on our own private patio. The problem, however, came at 11:13am the morning of checkout. Checkout is at 11am, which we knew, but were told by the lovely, lovely woman who checked us in that it would be okay if we stayed until 11:15 or so, no problem. At 11:13am, as we were preparing to take our bags to the car, the same woman, not so lovely in demeanor this time, however, stood at the edge of our patio and shouted at us about why we "weren't out of there yet?? " We calmly reminded her that she had said we had until 11;15, whereupon she barked that it was already 11:30 and she needed to show the Dino Den to people. When we gently corrected her that it was only 11:13 (we were so stunned/dazed by that point, our voices were barely above a whisper), she turned to someone near her, asked them what time it was, turned back and said something to the effect that she had no choice; she'd just have to just show it another time, then! She turned and disappeared from view. No apology to us about the mistaken time or anything -- that was the last we saw of her. I think that's the last we'll be seeing of the Cliff House, too. We couldn't help but feel so very warmly welcomed by her when we checked in, and so very much like chopped meat/persona non grata the next day when she had no more use for us. No one should be treated like that.

We've stayed at many B & B lodgings....this is one of the finest facilities in many ways. The location is convenient to services, yet quiet and intimate. The color of the red rock outcroppings in this area rivals Utah. This was one of the best B & B experiences we have ever had. We appreciate the fine service and the CLEAN lodging which was provided. Thank you!
