“A great 2-star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I was sharing a hotel with my frugal father so I needed something comfortable but cheap. This fit the bill nicely. I lived in this town a few years ago and was back to help my father empty his storage unit.

PROS:
+Clean, well-maintained.
+Management was friendly and accommodating. They had no trouble splitting the bill for us.
+Breakfast selection was good for the price (free): yogurt, apples, oranges, muffins and waffles were plentiful.
+Pool looks nice for summer months (closed winter).
+Outdoor hot tub was open in January. I did not try it -- brrr!
+Easy access to local attractions:
++ Eldorado Canyon State Park (hiking, gawking at the daredevil rock climbers)
++ Louisville Rec. Center (water slide, pro-level cycling classes, cheap prices even for non-residents)
++ Tao Asian Fusion restaurant across the street (a favorite among local Asian-Americans)
++ Old Louisville Inn (in downtown Louisville: local, domestic & imports beers on tap; excellent fish & chips)

CONS:
-TV was always on in the lobby/breakfast area. The din of morning talkshows made for unpleasant background noise.
-Highway noise was noticeable. I always sleep with earplugs, so it didn't bother me.
-Toilet had one of those high-pressure, "power flush" tanks, which made for a clean toilet bowl, but was also very noisy after late-night trips to the john.

Room Tip: Top floor away from the elevator is quietest, if you don't mind the walk. Room 321 is a good cho...

“Hey, I like this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stayed here on business. I was looking for an affordable place and La Quinta usually is a good value. No surprises here. Good value, the front desk service staff was friendly and super helpful. It is close to Boulder and just a little bit further from Denver...not technically in between the two cities but close enough to say so to a traveler like me. All my business was just down the street in Louisville so this was a perfect location.
On my own, I discovered some great nearby restaurants in "Old Town" Louisville. If you like fast food, there is some of that, too, right across the highway over the bridge in Superior. You really can't beat this location and price.
The bathroom was clean.
The TV was HD and has this cool screen-saver of the ocean and a full moon on the "welcome" channel. I liked it and fell asleep with it on every night. I guess it was the sound of waves crashing against the beach. Pretty neat.
The breakfast was typical, the most "exciting" aspect is you can, once again, make your own waffles.
There is a full mirror to the right of the dresser so you can watch yourself dance if you get bored.
Parking was good.
Seemed like a nice and safe neighborhood.
Room service was on queue.
I did not use the hot tub outside for three reasons; 1. It was 19 degrees outside and snowing. 2. It is right in plain view of all units. 3. I don't like hot tubs. Point is their's was working. It was fun to see the steam rise with all the snow falling.

Cool.

Room Tip: There is a big white water fountain in the lobby. There are no coins in it, so I figured no one make...

“Good value, centrally located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Clean, modern, up to date. Seems to be consistently the best price in the area. Central to Boulder and a short drive to Denver.

“Convenient to Boulder without the Boulder hotel room prices.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights over labor day weekend. I chose this hotel due to it's close proximity to Boulder (8 miles) and the reasonable rates ($75 per night). The courtyard with the swimming area and gazebo was a nice touch. There appeared to be a family of rabbits living in the courtyard, much to the amusement of my husband and I. We saw at least one every day we were at the La Quinta.

We were checked in by a very professional, attentive younger gentlemen. The hotel allows dogs, as became obvious by the yapping dog next door I heard the very first time I entered my room. The room itself was fairly spacious, modern, and spotlessly clean. It was a hot day, so after checking in, I was eager to check out the pool. Unfortunately, the pool and hot tub were ridiculously over chlorinated. I would have liked to have stayed in the pool longer, as it was rather refreshing, but my eyes began to burn from all of the chlorine. I took a shower soon afterward to try and remove the chlorine smell off of me; however my legs were really itchy even after the shower. The hotel provided shampoo and conditioner, but no lotion, which I really needed at this point. This resulted in me having to leave the hotel room and buy lotion for my itchy legs, which displeased me as I hadn't been planning on leaving again that evening.

Trying to use the "high speed" internet was a bit of a joke. The "high speed" reminded me of using dial-up back in the 90s.

Unfortunately, the aforementioned yapping dog became a theme of the weekend. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, I've had dogs, I've stayed in plenty of hotels in the past that allow dogs and never had any issues. However, our next door neighbors for the weekend were less then considerate when their dogs began barking. My husband told me he was awakened two straight mornings at 7am by yapping. The third morning we were there, the yapping began soon after I woke up, and continued on, non-stop, for 45 minutes. I complained to the front desk, and the neighbors finally walked the dogs. The yapping stopped, but only temporarily. The only reason I didn't ask for a room change at this point was that we only had one night left, and weren't spending all that much time in our hotel anyway. I realize that a hotel can only do so much about rude guests, but our weekend certainly would have been more enjoyable without them. My husband told them again about the constant noise when he checked us out.

Despite the annoyances we experienced during our stay, this hotel is a good deal for the price, and I wouldn't be opposed to staying there again when in the Boulder area.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We stayed 5 nights and used the hotel as a base to visit Denver(downtown 25 mins) Boulder(10 mins) Rocky Mountain National Park (50 mins) . The hotel is just off Highway 36 so very convenient. It is a very modern property with large spacious rooms. I initially thought the breakfast was a little sparse but soon realised it had been well thought out, high fibre, low fat/sugar. Superb
