Always clean, the staff is so friendly and professional, a pleasant home away from home.

I have a good frame of reference because I stayed here shortly after it first opened when it was fresh and clea. Not quite so now and that's the problem.

While other Courtyards around the country are being updated this one doesn't appear to be. While other Courtyards may have a refrigerator and/or microwave in the rooms, this one doesn't. While many other Courtyards have a convenient entrance door -- such as an automatic sliding door -- this one pulls out at you (not fun with a lot of baggage).

What this Courtyard has is a decent location near US 36 and a lot of shopping and dining. It has a friendly staff. What it needs is some clean up, paint up and fix up. Bath in my room had a musty smell. The carpeting was showing its wear. Numerous marks on the walls and gouges in the old paint. Drains ran a little slow.

Was this place horrible? No. A night or two is not an unbearable experience. Nonetheless it didn't pass my basic "clean and everything works as it should" test and, having seen what this place could and should look like, it needs some work. Like so many hotels if only they had kept up with the maintenance all along . . . . . . . . . . <sigh>

I recently had the pleasure of staying 5 nights at the Courtyard by Marriott in Louisville on business. As usual, I was not disappointed with the quality of service provided by Marriott brand hotels.

The first impression of the hotel upon arrival was in the parking lot. I noticed a well kept exterior building, but what really got my attention was that only a limited number of rooms had a patio. This was not a big deal for me, as I wasn't going to spend much time in the hotel.

At check-in, the staff at the front desk was very courteous and friendly, making sure that any initial needs would be addressed. Just opposite of the front desk was a dining area where guests could have either a full buffet or continental breakfast (at additional cost). At night, the hotel staff allowed my coworkers and to use this area as a workspace. This was definitely convenient, as we didn't want to spend extra money to rent one of the meeting rooms every night.

The rooms were clean and spacious for one or two people, with the standard bed, sofa, and desk setup and a flat panel TV. I could tell it has been a few years since they remodeled the rooms/hotel, however there definitely was not any major problems with the condition of the room.

My only complaint about the hotel was the comfort of the mattress and standard pillows. The king size mattress in my room was uncomfortable and the pillows were quite lumpy. Thankfully, after a late night trip to the front desk, I was able to acquire a pair of amazingly comfortable feather pillows. This saved me from 4 more sleepless nights. The next time I saw her, the night manager that provided the pillows stopped me in the lobby to assure that I was sleeping more comfortably after getting them.

The location of the hotel was quite convenient, being only about a mile from my company's office. In addition, there are a variety restaurants within a half mile of the hotel, many within walking distance. There was also a Target about a half mile away, making it convenient to get any necessities. Boulder was also quite close by car (approximately 15 minutes), giving us additional dining and entertainment options for the week.

Overall, I was quite pleased with my stay. I will definitely be staying there again when visiting our office in Louisville.

Spent several nights on business. Great staff. Clean, neat and logical. No surprises, just good service, good value.
