I stayed at The Silver Mill at River Run in Keystone, Colorado last Friday and Saturday nights, August 1st and 2nd, 2008. My stay was, beyond a doubt, the most miserable stay I have ever had anywhere in my 52 years.

The entire building was dreadfully HOT!!! The unit I stayed in was hotter than anywhere else in the building. The building is a ski condo with no air conditioning. The weather, even in the mountains, gets HOT in the summer. In order to make the condo look more like an authentic silver mine the building is completely surrounded by sheet metal, a tremendous heat conductor!!! We were on the top floor of a 5 floor complex. I can certainly attest to the fact that heat does, in fact, RISE!!!

The mattress on the fold out sofa in the living room was so incredibly thin that my children couldn’t sleep on it as the springs were sticking in their backs. They had to lay the cushions out on the floor which, while uncomfortable, was far preferable to sleeping on the bed.

The push-up sky-light window on the ceiling in the bedroom needed to be open due to the intense heat. However, when opened, the window acts as a conduit for noise from the bar on the ground level. The noise bounces off the window on the ceiling and down into the bedroom, making it seem as though those talking in the bar 5 floors below were sitting there in the bed right next to us.

The TV in the bedroom is in a very nice TV cabinet. The problem is you can't see the TV from the bed through the cabinet door, which must be opened in order to see the TV! There wasn't even one chair in the bedroom so the bed was the only place you could watch the TV from, if only you could see it unless, of course, you chose to stand!

I might also complain about an early 10 AM check out time. However, in this case, I couldn’t get out of that condo fast enough!!!!

We were booked into unit 8191 and only stayed one night and then requested to be moved to a different unit. Beware of having a 'courtyard facing' unit. It is noisy to say the least. I'm not sure why the staff feels the need to empty the trash at 11:00 PM but they do and it is noisy. In the summer you have to have your windows open since there is no A/C in any of the units and if you have the windows open you will have a lot of noise. This unit was very dated, the bed in the one bedroom was as hard as a rock, it felt like we were sleeping on the floor. The hide-away-bed in the couch was equally uncomfortable, old piece of furniture with a thin worn mattress that you could feel the bars through. We requested a room change after our first night and were cheerfully relocated to the Buffalo Lodge. I have written a review of that room as well. Just be sure you ask if your room is courtyard side and avoid that if you are sensitive to noise. Oh, they also started moving around metal furniture and maintenance every day at 7:00 AM. I couldn't believe it.

First time to Keystone. We had a two bedroom unit for a week. Our complaints were that the unit was the smallest place we have ever stayed, long trek to the room off elevator. No blender in kitchen, gas fireplace enclosed in solid glass-no doors. Basically built small, low end on kitchen appliances, and plumbing fixtures. The location was great, along with storage lockers downstairs. Nice outside hot tubs, the pool is a hot tub. Nice room down stairs with pool table and tv and couch. Nice basement garage if you have a car.

Stayed again, 2nd year in a row, in Silvermill condos. Wonderful underground heated parking, 3 hot tubs, cable tv, etc. Reasonable walking distance to slopes. The building is clean and well maintained.

Definitely recommend this place to stay if you plan to ski at Keystone...especially with kids.

It was not crowded at all this time of year (end of March) although the slopes were a bit icy due to the warm temps during the day.

My 10 yr old son was in snowboard school and I thought they did a great job teaching him techniques.
We bought discount lift tickets at City Market in Dillon so we saved a few dollars.

Went on the sleigh ride at Keystone ranch (not the dinner ride though). It was very nice although not too long of a ride.
