“Last minute grab. Satisfied. I would stay there again.”
I actually had booked with Candlewood Suites for a two week period but my schedule changed the day before. Sleep Inn had middle of the road reviews but I figured I would only need it for a night. I reserved it at $62 after tax & fees with AAA card.
First impressions were not very good. It was hot and the hall ways were not air conditioned. There is an elevator but only on the side of the front desk. The other side of the building only has stairs.
There is a nook in the lobby which they call their business center. It basically is a single desk, desktop computer, monitor, keyboard & printer. It could not have been placed in a worse location, IMHO.. But if you do noy have a laptop with wireless access, you do have an option for getting some work done. Good luck getting on it, though.
I proceeded to my room on the second floor from the back access door. I was concerned about a musty smell and all the smokers outside of the exit door but after getting to my room, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and did not have any of the musty smell or traces of cigarette smoke. I'm pretty sensitive to smoke so this would have been a show stopper for me.
I looked around to see whether everything worked right and everything did. The CRT style TV was only 28 inch but adequate as the room is not spacious. It does come with all the amenities you might expect and there is someplace to put everything you might have with you unless you travel with the kitchen sink. ;)
I read a lot of complaints about the wireless internet access but I didn't have any of the slow connections people complained about. In fact, it exceeded my expectations and free with the reservation price of the room.
The queen bed was comfortable and I didn't have any trouble getting a good night sleep. The AC was relatively quiet and operates on a thermostat, set and forget. A big concern of mine in hotels is dust mites. I can report that none were detected during my overnight stay.
There is a continental breakfast. Don't expect much. I grabbed a couple of hard boiled eggs, wheat toast, butter & jelly, some coffee and took it back to my room. There also was an electric waffle iron if you like fresh waffles and syrup. I also saw a couple choices of cereal, juices and milk along with some fresh pastries.
Again, the first impression was not great including the young guy at the desk which kept yelling out people's room numbers. If you have a lot of baggage, there is a baggage cart available by the desk, but only one. That's what the guy in front of me was complaining about but the guy at the front desk said, "Someone stole the other one! "
They could use some improvement in the service side of the house.
Room Tip: If you have a lot of baggage or have trouble with stairs, you may want to make sure you have a room...
