“Shadowcliff is great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

I have been coming to shadowcliff since i was a baby. I am now 13 years old and every year I come I see a great new site that I couldn't see anywhere else. Three years ago me and my grandparents saw a herd of bighorn sheep on the Colorado River trail. Every year I come I see many moose and elk and it is magnificent to see all the wildlife and views. I also enjoy driving through Rocky Mountain park on Trail Ridge Road. If you need the top of the line everything then don't come here but if you want a down to earth, great family, relaxation, or hiking and camping trip then come here ASAP. The staff is always great, very diverse, and always there when you need them. Mostly all of them are college students who came here not for the money but for the experience of a lifetime, and you will also have the experience of a lifetime if you just come to Shadowcliff.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view or cabin

“Great for the fireworks on the lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

This was the third time I have stayed here, my first visit was in 1996 and the place is just as clean and tidy now as it was then.
I stayed in one of the dorms, but the lodges offered great family accomodation. The bunk bedded room are basic and clean and the bathrooms are in good comndition.
The member's kitchen is a little basic with a large stove and a microwave, but I was able to use the barbeque being used by a large group to cook my steak. There is a large professional kitchen which was used by the large group staying at the hostel.
The balcony overlooks the lake and proved to be the best place to see the July 4th Fireworks, avoiding the crowds down town, but within a short walk of the town to get to the bars after the fireworks.

“great hostel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

If you are looking for a quirky, inexpensive place to stay that offers clean, no thrills rooms or bunks, clean bathrooms, a kitchen to cook your own food, a nice common area, unbelievable views and a short walk into town, then this is your place. The lodge is located near the Western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and is a great hub for exploring the less visited side of the park.

I discovered this gem in 1997 & have visited ever since. Open from Memorial Day through September, the Lodge accommodations & cabins welcome families, individuals & conference / retreats of all sizes.

My favorite rooms are # 5 & 6 and
the Women's & Men's Hostel rooms.

These 4 rooms overlook & over-
hear the Tonahutu River & North Inlet to Grand Lake.

“Best View in Grand Lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

Perched on a rock cliff overlooking Grand Lake, this lodge has a great view of the town, lake and surrounding mountains. You can stay in the dormitory room for $23/night, or rent a private room for about $60. The dormitory room offers small lockers (bring your own lock) where you can keep valuables safely. The bunk beds were quite comfortable. Bathrooms are shared, but very clean. In general, the whole lodge is clean and the staff - mostly college age kids - are friendly. There is a small kitchen with refrigerator where you can keep your own food while you stay, a large common area on the first floor with a fire pit, living room with comfortable sofas, games, books, dining area, and a wraparound outdoor porch with fine views. Located close to 2 hiking trails going into Rock Mtn National Park, it is the perfect base camp for a backpacking trip or day hiking. For those without a car, the lodge offers shuttle rides to/from Granby, CO, for $12 each way.
