“Excellent value”

We were traveling to Moab, UT in November 2011 and decided to stop in Grand Junction for the night. With no reservation we found this hotel close to the interstate and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel and the room for the price we paid. It was a Sunday night so it was very quiet in the hotel bar before supper. Hotel staff recommended an excellent restaurant in downtown Grand Junction. If ever going through Grand Junction you MUST take the time to visit Colorado National Monument which is a short drive south of the city - it is like you have entered another world.

Room Tip: Our room faced south towards the freeway and the Colorado National Monument area and there was no no...

“Good value but don't let the lobby fool you”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We booked this room through Hotwire, which had given the place a three-star rating. Clearly the person who rated the hotel had not walked past the lobby. This is a classic two-star hotel, and if that's what you're expecting you'll be satisfied. We were looking for a three-star place and were disappointed.

The decor is utilitarian. The room was spacious - we had a king sized bed and still had enough floor space for morning yoga. There is a functional computer desk, which I would have much appreciated had I been travelling for business. The bed was a torture rack, thus necessitating the morning yoga. I literally had to buy a can of tennis balls in the next town and apply them to my back as we drove. My husband doesn't have back problems and thought the bed was fine. Three years ago I probably would have, too.

There is no free breakfast included, but the restaurant downstairs made quite a nice breakfast for us.

There is a little bar downstairs too. The sounds of the karaoke in progress when we arrived chased us out. Seemed like an OK place for a quiet beer otherwise, certainly not a hot spot.

We paid $55 for the room, including taxes, through Hotwire. That was a good price for what we got.

Overall, had we been wanting and expecting a two star room we would have been very satisfied.

Room Tip: The king room was quite spacious.

“great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Stayed here as a first stop off the California Zephyr Amtrak line. While not centrally located, it is by plenty of restaurants and grocery stores as well as being right off the highway making travel quick and convenient.

The rooms were clean and comfortable with a small fridge, microwave and coffee pot in each room. The room was very spacious and the free parking was definitely a plus as we had picked up a rental and were driving back to Los Angeles.

Slept very well, though I do have to admit I don't know if that was just exhaustion from 3 days of being on a train from New York to Grand Junction.

Staff was very helpful with answering questions, providing maps, recommending restaurants and sights.

“Not spectacular for the price”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

My wife and I stayed here on our way to Utah for one night because it was pet friendly. The staff was very friendly and even upgraded us to a larger room; however, the room smelled old and a little like smoke even though it was a non-smoking room. The room was also cold and we had to turn on the old swamp cooler/heater type system and wait for the room to warm up. The indoor pool was heated and my wife enjoyed an evening and morning swim. Overall, I will probably look for another pet friendly hotel in Grand Junction but would stay here again if nothing was available.

“really nice; really low price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Liked eveything about this place -- nice people, big nice room, good location. Couldn't believe the price (with the Trip Advisor coupon was $55 a night.) I was traveling alone & had never been to Grand Junction before. Staff was really good about answering all kinds of questions-- from the stores in the mall to how to use wi-fi . It was cold -- in the teens-- and the in-hotel food was pretty good and certainly beat fighting the weather. I made a report on a small matter to maintenence and the man came immediately to the room and took care of it.
I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone else.

You do have to watch oooout for the hot water because it is hot, but we keep it that way at home.
