This hotel is a little dated, but not badly so. The staff was really excellent (very helpful, very responsive, willing to go the extra mile, etc.). The one major negative was the TV selection. First, the TVs are flat panel, but the signal is obviously standard definition (so it looks terrible). The channel selection was also far more limited than normal for an RI (and I had stayed at two other ones in two different cities the two previous nights).

The two TVs worked well for us with the kids being able to watch the channel they like. We liked the U-layout and the ability to go in/out the hotel quickly using either of the two entrances, making hauling several pieces of luggage easier. Breakfast assortment was good with waffles, potatoes and sausage skillet, eggs etc.

I have stayed at a number of Residence Inn's. I had a one bedroom. The lay out was good - nice to have 2 TVs. I wasn't feeling well so it was nice that my husband could shut the door and hang out in the living room - comfortable bed. It was RIGHT next to the airport, so that was convenient - we stayed on the last night of a hiking trip before we flew out. Nice lobby with TVs to watch Sunday football while we waited for our flight.

We stayed here for one night in late August. In most respects this is a very good hotel. We had a top floor room. It was clean, well equipped, and quiet. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and helpful. The free wi-fi was a little slow, but the place was full of college-age young people, probably there for a college orientation. They probably put a heavier than usual burden on the wi-fi.

We didn't try the breakfast or the pool.

Our one, major complaint concerned the closed captioning on the TV. Like millions of other Americans, I have a hearing impairment, which requires closed captioning (or disturbingly loud volume). Virtually all modern hotels provide TVs with closed captioning. This hotel does not provide closed captioning and does not inform prospective guests that closed captioning is not available. Moreover, the room TV instructions misleadingly provide closed captioning directions and the remote control even has a closed captioning button. The only thing lacking is closed captioning itself! I don't watch much TV, but I do need the weather and news reports. I cannot stay in a hotel that lacks closed captioning. Consequently, I won't be returning to the Residence Inn in Grand Junction.
