“timeshare exchange”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

we stayed 3 weeks at this resort in January 2012 as a timeshare exchange. The staff were friendly and accommodating when I asked on checkin if we were able to stay in the same unit for the three weeks rather than move. This was in hindsight probably not the best move as though the unit was adequate it was in need of maintenance and update. There was a spa bath in both bathrooms but neither worked as all the functions of the spa had been removed. I expected that at the end of each week that we would have had housekeeping/unit freshen as this is the practice in all other timeshare resorts we have stayed in, however this did not happen for the entire three weeks, we did get fresh towels each day and trash removed and although the paperwork in the unit advised that bed linen would be changed on Tuesdays this happened the first Tuesday we were there (we started each week on the Saturday) it did not happen again until I asked for it after the end of the second week and the linen was changed the following Tuesday. If you decide to do a timeshare exchange here I would be clarifying the housekeeping at the start of your stay, particularly if you are there for more than one week.
We skied in Winter Park which provides both beginner and more challenging slopes. If you are going for a few weeks and are able to plan early it is best to get a seasons pass as this works our much better price wise (if you are able to get an early preseason sale special), we paid for our seasons passes in the first week we were there, a seasons pass also gives you discounts of food on the mountain. The shuttle bus to the mountain from the town is very efficient and saves parking hassles on the slope, this service however does not extend to Granby so if you are staying at this resort a car is essential.
Overall the staff were great, were happy to recieve and hold mail and other deliveries on behalf of guests and to provide assistance and information on local attraction. I understand that some ot the units in this resort are undergoing upgrades

“Great ski vacation for young family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

We stayed at the Inn at Silvercreek over New Year's with three children. The kids stayed in the main room with sofa and Murphy bed, kitchen, three balconies, and its own bathroom with a Jacuzzi/steam bath. We had the separate bedroom with comfortable king-sized bed and our own bathroom and closets. The place had rustic decor (used the fireplace every night more for atmosphere than heat), as one would expect in Colorado -- and what you go there for. It was spacious enough for our family of five not to trip over each other. Kitchen small but had what you need for basic food preparation. We found it relaxing, accommodating to skiers of all ages tromping around in boots. We were actually glad it wasn't too fancy or prissy, and we could relax and enjoy ourselves without having to worry about tracking a little snow onto the carpets near the doors, which looked as if they could take it (and had taken it!). Sol Vista is a great little family ski area with lessons for kids of all ages (ours are 5-9-12), good lunch facilities, baby-sitting for the little ones, mostly blue trails, some (relataively easiy by Colorado standards) black slopes for more expert parents or older kids Staff was polite, helpful, and gave us recommendations for eating in the area. We saved money by buying partially prepared food and "cooking in," but eating out on average once a day. We want to go back in the summertime to visit Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park, balloon rides, see wildlife and hike. We hope to return with older children and go to Winter Park for their more challenging slopes. We also went cross-country skiing at the YMCA's Snow Mountain Ranch next door (a world class CCX facility). We had tried to get reservations there but found them impossible to get. Still, we could use their ice skating rink and ski tracks, warming house, etc. We loved it and are thinking of purchasing a condo at SC if we can find a winter week during school breaks, then trade for summer, or vice-versa. This was ideal for our family, which loves the outdoors, and our rooms were comfortable and in good condition. No compaints. Oh, and our kids (and we) loved the heated pool at night with snow falling into their hair. For our situation, a very good value.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner unit. We liked the extra views and balconies.

“It worked for a night....but probably wouldn't go back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

We stay in the Winter Park area several times each year and we've watched these units over the past few years and knew the struggles they've had. We wanted to stay in the Granby area so we booked anyway. Yes, hotel is old and dilapidated. Rooms are dated and need new kitchens/baths/carpet etc. We paid extra to get a loft so were assuming there was at least 2 baths but it was only one. The upstairs loft had 2 beds with a HUGE closet that was a waste of space. Put a bathroom or another bed in there and make it worth the while.
Happy note, we called for maintenance as our fireplace was kicking smoke back in the room and they were very responsive and he was a great guy and did everything he could to make sure our stay was a good one. Stay away from the restaurant...not a happy place.
Kids enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool and whirlpool. I hope someone comes in and invests in hotel as it could be a really good destination.

Room Tip: Not sure what I can say to help but to ask front desk for private owners units that have been remode...

“Great value beautiful room”

We just returned from this place. We spent 3 nights in a suite rented on VRBO from a private owner. We looked at several other condos in the place while we stayed there and they are all being redone and the place is clearly on its way to becoming THE place to stay for elegance and value, if you want to ski Winter Park or visit Rocky Mountain National Park. The staff was friendly and helpful which made the stay even more pleasant. It felt a lot like being on a cruise ship without the rocking. The hot tubs are great, especially the ones outside where you sit in the hot tubs while snowflakes melt on your face. We LOVED it!!!

Room Tip: The best value is probably on VRBO.com, but the people at the front desk are great about telling you...
