Description: Elevation 8,300 ft.. Located right on Lake Granby
Overview: This large Arapaho National Forest campground and RV sites sits on the banks of beautiful Lake Granby in Ground County just a few minutes from the Rocky Mountain National Park. The campsites are an adequate size and very well cared for and very well marked. Because this is such a huge campground there are many choices of sites, some are just off of the water and others are further away and more in the shade. They
have bathrooms with showers. The management is present and they do a good job of managing the campground.
Our Objective: To camp in the Grand Lake/Lake Granby area hopefully on water. We saw photos of beautiful Lake Granby with the mountains in the background on the web and wanted to stay on this lake.
The Property: Consists of many choices of campsites/RV. This is a beautiful location right on Lake Granby. Lake Granby is a Man-made lake/resevior. The lake is located in the National Forests. The lake is beutiful and has a very natural feel to it - only campgrounds are found on the lake and have lake frontage. (or at least there is not alot on the lake except for natural forests etc.(there may be a building a two but it is minimal.
The Bathrooms/Showers: I would describe there bathrooms and shower facility as average - but very clean. This facility is older, but they do a good job of keeping it clean. I did not care for the hooks to hang up your clothes when taking a shower. Other than that, I have no complaints. The facility was clean and the water was good and that is what is important
Our Campsite: (Number 111) Our Campsite was adequate and was located at the bottom of about 5 other sites. Our site was the closest to the water. The whole site was level and had a very roomy place to pitch a tent. There was a picnic table and fire circle. The site was not wooded. But this was not a problem for us (we were there only after 5 PM). We loved the location of being closest to the water and what a beautiful view.
Conclusion: We highly recommend this campground. They did an excellent job at taking care of the place and keeping it clean and most of all the setting was GREAT.
