“Okay, powder hounds . . . don't rule out this smaller gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

Well, after reading a few of the more negative reviews, we went with a healthy skepticism. But I must say, we were pleasantly surprised! My husband and I spent two full days skiing powder right there at the SolVista Basin!
The room was a renovated room and was great! It's literally like having your own apartment for the week. If I just had to complain, the ONLY two things I would have to say are, 1) be careful on the stairs! No elevator and can be slippery, and 2) the place would be perfect with a much better mattress on a king-sized bed :-)
Overall, great experience! And don't miss the Seven Trails Grill at SolVista Basin - have fun!!

“Great summer vacation spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

We were looking for a quiet location close to outdoor summer activities in the mountains, and we found it here. Within a half hour, we could be hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park, exploring Winter Park, riding horses, golfing, soaking in a natural hot spring pool, or dining in a wide variety of restaurants. The resort is a couple of hours drive from Estes Park (nice town, but pretty busy and "touristy"), but driving through Rocky Mountain National Park was worth the trip by itself.
The condo was very comfortable, with everything we were used to having at other resorts except a washer and dryer in the unit itself (there are 2 or 3 laundry rooms spread throughout the complex.) The pool was a bit small, but it was too cool to swim anyway. The view out the windows was awesome! When we go back to Colorado, we will look here for a place to stay again.

“Nice quiet summer getaway.”

Very pleasant stay. Friendly staff. Quiet summer getaway within 30 minutes of the western entrance to Rocky Mtn Natl Park. Very nice fireworks at neighboring Grand Lake on the 4th.

If you are going to RMNP, research what you want to do/see there before you decide which side of the park to stay on. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from one side to the other.

New grocery store (Kroger type) very close to entrance to resort at Sol Vista ski area. It was great.

“Great escape from the city!”

We escaped the fast pace of Los Angeles for the lovely week here in Silver Creek. Unfortunately, our unit wasn't one of the newly renovated ones, but we still weren't disappointed. It was extremely spacious and the surrounding units were still vacant due to the off season. Our toddler was free to make as much noise as possible! The staff was most gracious questioning us daily on what we should visit depending on the weather. During our visit we encountered a snow storm which was quite exciting for us California folks! I'm glad we were able to visit this beautiful area of Colorado.

“Exceeded our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

I just returned from a one week stay at the Mountainside at Silver Creek resort. We had a fairly large group (9 adults, 3 kids) spread over four different units. I think I can speak for the entire group in saying that the resort exceeded our expectations.

All four of our rooms were newly remodeled. We had two one-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units. The two-bedroom units were brand new. We were the first ones inside of them. We were told the other rooms were completed last year and they were just as nice.

All of the rooms were very spacious. They all had a full kitchen, dining area, living room with couch and love seat, and a hottub. It was more like a condo than a hotel room. I could have easily lived there! The kitchen had all of the utensils that we needed (except a pizza cutter). Two out of the four units had a flat screen tv and all of them had DVD players.

When I try to think of negatives about the resort, I struggle to come up with anything big. The pool size is pretty small (and fairly chilly) so don't go there expecting to lounge by the pool. Also there isn't really anything to do in the immediate area of the resort. There is one restaurant down the hill near the bottom of the ski hill, but they were pretty pricey. Otherwise you will have to drive into Granby or Winter Park to find anything.

All in all it was a very good stay. I would definitely recommend the Mountainside to anybody (assuming you get a remodeled room).
