“So disappointed. Wouldn't stay again.”
I was on a long road trip with a pet, so I was getting accustomed to staying at Candlewood Suites across the country due to their pet-friendly policy. Unfortunately, I have to say that this was the single worst experience of the whole trip. The hotel didn't have my reservation when I arrived, even after I gave them my email confirmation and reservation #. They only had 1 or 2 rooms left, 1 smoking and 1 non-smoking and, of course, the most expensive suite rooms available. I chose the non-smoking but I was obviously given the smoking room because the place stunk like an ashtray. When I called downstairs to request that I get the non-smoking, she said that someone just took it. Lovely. My clothes, my bag, everything smelled like cigarettes once I left! It was disgusting. On top of that, the towels in the bathroom were dirty and looked as if the maid didn't change them...just took dirty towels off the floor and folded them. The pillows looked used, all wrinkly like someone had just slept there.
They wouldn't even honor the rate that I had reserved - it was THEIR mistake, not mine! It was the middle of the night and I didn't have it in me to argue, so I just took what I could. Upon leaving, I felt that I had been taken advantage of and I vowed to find a different property to stay at if I ever went on another road trip again. I have definitely found other pet-friendly hotels that I will remember for next time.
