“Excellent. Clean, friendly and in great value for money.”

I have recentely submitted a review of this Holiday Inn. However, I now realise that the review I submitted was for the WRONG hotel.
Can you transfer my review from the Holiday Inn Lakewood - delete that one - and put my comments - which I have copied below - to the correct location which is Holiday Inn Golden. My sincere apologies.
We were walk in travellers spending one night here. We hadn't read any reviews but were delighted in this Holiday Inn. It's directly opposite Colorado Mills Mall - for all you keen shoppers - and that's what attracted us. There are plenty of restaurants all around which we used and of course, a large Cinema complex in the Mall. The room was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfortable. The pool had no water but the offered the use of a local gym. It was very easy to check in and check out and the staff were very friendly. There was a computer for public use in the lobby and again, we used it several times without having to queue. I'd recommend it to you all and would gladly use it again.

“Probably the most run down Holiday Inn I have stayed in”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2009

The Staff are very friendly and do try to accommodate your needs but the place is so DISMAL!
There is no natural light inside the hotel and it looks like something from the 1970's with glass fronted rooms facing into an atrium. We were glad to get out. The pool at the time was being painted so no recreation although i will give them credit they had made alternative arrangements for guests at a nearby fitness centre. There needs to be a serious makeover of this place, come on Holiday Inn, get it sorted out or sell it as it is bringing your brand down.

“Once a great place to stay, but now in dire need of improvements”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2009

I would frequently stay at this hotel with my family during the late 90's when I was growing up, and it was a great place to stay. Now, however, the hotel is very dated and in serious need of some renovations.

One thing that hasn't changed about the hotel is the fact that it is in a great location, across the street from a nice shopping center, and within walking distance of the Colorado Mills Mall, as well as near many restaurants, including an Outback Steakhouse which is only a stone's throw away from the building. The hotel also has easy access to I-70 and 6th Avenue, and is only a 15-20 minute drive from downtown Denver.

Now for the bad. As other posters have mentioned, the hotel is very dated, and in dire need of a facelift. The hotel does have a Holidome, but when we got there the pool was in the process of being resurfaced. Not a smart idea during the peak travel season. They have a small arcade with 5 or 6 games, 2 of which were out of order. There was also a vending machine that was out of order at the time.

When we walked into our room, we noticed that the thermostat cover was missing, so we had no way to adjust the temperature in the room. Someone from maintenence came up to the room and began working on it (we had to leave 15 minutes after he came to attend a wedding rehearsal), and upon our return, there was a thermostat cover, but no way of adjusting the temperature. The staff ended up moving us to another room.

The room they moved us to was fine, but the door was very hard to open and would not close all the way without pushing it very hard.

There are no refridgerators or microwaves in the room, which is something that I thought was standard for hotels to have nowadays. They do have a breakfast buffet, which is $7.50 a person, and nothing too special.

For the money, I would have expected more. If I am ever in the area again, I will likely consider staying at one of the other nearby hotels if I am able to get a comparable price.

“Time travel back to 1980's.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

My best friend and I stayed at this property (I'm not sure whether to call it a Motel or a Hotel, I guess a motel) on a roadtrip from Chicago to Las Vegas. We chose this motel because it was the least expensive dog-friendly Holiday Inn we could find along our route.

This place was like stepping into 1980. This was a Holiday Inn that featured a Holidome. When I was a kid, I loved going to the Holidomes and this place took me back to that time.

This motel was nearly empty, or at least it seemed that way. We were given a room in the holidome next to the pool. It literally seemed like we were the only people staying there, which was kinda creepy. Because the motel was so empty, we joked that this was a "child abductor's paradise."

The room was what one would expect from a dated roadside Holiday Inn, nothing more and nothing less. The pool was clean (perhaps overly chlorinated, as was the hot tub.) Even though we received free drink coupons at the lounge, we were tired after swimming and opted out. We could see the lounge from the hot tub. Like the rest of the motel, empty.

I would stay here again if I needed a nice quiet place to rest...while traveling with the dog.

“Would never recommend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2008

My family and 17 other guests were staying at this hotel for my wedding. We all booked a block of rooms more than a year in advance, had kept in touch with the hotel manager throughout the year, and made confirmations before arriving. Some of my guests were able to check in on time, and others had to wait until nearly 5:00pm to get into their room. They were sleeping in the lobby. The bottom of the pool was coated in algea, the hot tub was out of order, the ice machine (which was right outside our door) continually leaked ice throughout the day. The machine would spontaneously shoot out loads of ice and the hotels solution to this was to put out a wet floor sign. The bar was open for 4 hours total if you were lucky, the windows near the ceiling of the pool and lounge area were leaking. It happened to be raining on one particluar day and my guests and I were being rained on while sitting at a table near the pool! The rooms that we booked over a year in advance were scattered throughout the entire hotel. We had a block of 13 rooms reserved and we were all under the impression a block of rooms meant that they would be near one another. On the contrary, and block of rooms just meant that a reservation was made under the same party name. So, my entire family, friends, and other guests were no where near one another and we had to walk 5 minutes to get to eachothers rooms. When you think it cannot get worse, the rooms were dirty, the coffee pot had a left over filter in it, our TVs made an annoying high pitch squeal the entire time, and upon waking up on the morning that we were checking out, there was a bill taped to our door. That's real classy and professional. The hotel staff was very rude (with exception for a few) and seemed to not have any concern for any of their customers. This hotel had to be the worst holiday inn that I have ever stayed at. I thought that we would have been safe booking for so many people for such a special occasion at a holiday inn because my experience with these hotels has been fine. For this one, I would strongly urge against it.
