“Enjoyed our 1-night stay!”

We had originally booked a different hotel in Glenwood Springs, but found upon arrival that it was so far from everything in the town that we changed our reservation to Best Western Antlers. We paid around $110-120 for the night (I forget what night of the week), and it was worth it.
We'd had an awful camping experience the night before, with barely any sleep so just wanted a good nights sleep in a comfortable room. As soon as we walked into our room at Antlers we were glad we picked it. It felt clean, fresh, and seemed like a good value for our $. The continental breakfast was fine (nothing fancy but decent), and we used the pool and the jacuzzi the next morning. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and we felt very refreshed after our stay here! No complaints!

“Watch out for the cancellation policy - it's 4 PM”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Nice looking hotel as is the usual for BW. We canceled a room reservation at 5:25 PM and were charged the full room amount. Evidently Travelocity did not get the cancellation confirmation to the BW Antlers but that didn't matter. The Hotel owner said that we did not cancel before 4 PM so touch luck. It's amazing the positive effect a little good will do ... it's also quite interesting to see the effect of a lack of it. In my case, I'm used to a 6 PM cancellation policy with most any hotel I stay at, which is almost always the Holiday Inns and the BW hotels. Sure I could have read the fine print but when I don't I do expect some consideration from the business if I make a reasonable request due to a slight error on my part or theirs. And of course I don't like paying for a service that I did not receive. At the end of our trip we did stay at the BW on Fisherman's Wharf in SF (great hotel) ... which had the 6 PM cancellation policy that I'm used to.
I'm sorry to say though that I won't be staying at BW hotels in the future ... unless this particular hotel owner decides that having his hotel looked upon favorably by the traveling public is more important to him than $90.
I am also sending a copy of this review to the BW corporate headquarters so they are aware of the unfriendly cancellation policy of this particular BW hotel.

Our cancellation policy is actually 24 hours prior to arrival , which would be 4pm the day before arrival. We are a destination area in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and a majority of the guests that visit this city - preplan their stay, which is why we do ask for a cancelation the day before arrival, so that the room that was reserved is available to another guest. A reservation must be cancelled directly with our hotel to receive a cancellation number. Without a cancellation, the room is held all night in good faith and can not be rented.
Sincerely,
General Manager

“Great place to visit and convenient to the town center.”

I stayed in Oct on my way to hunt Elk. The entire town was catering to hunters at every hotel and everyone was very welcoming. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and room was clean. The breakfast the next morning was a few minutes late but then again, I'm the first up and ready to go. The breakfast was hardy enough to start the day and the lobby has this nice fireplace and decor to pass the time as you are eating. The staff recommended the Glenwood Brew Pub which is about a half mile walk and it is worth the walk, not only for the scenery along the way but the beer and food were excellent. I would definitely stay again, if I get to that area.

“Don't do it................”

We were met by a grumpy receptionist who needed to see a photo ID to check in. The room we were given was a family room with two bedrooms. It was extremely dark, looked like it needed new decor, no sunshine at all and our son had a view of a concrete wall out of his bedroom window. We complained and was given another room in a different block. This was sunny outside the door, with one chair to sit on! The room was dingy and in need of new decor. The internet connection was useless and the swimming pool closed. We decided to go and find another hotel and check out. No problems in doing this and they did not charge a cancellation fee. Please do not bother with this place there is much better accommodation just up the road for less money!
Try Hotel Glenwood Springs.

We have a friendly front desk staff that always enjoys greeting our guests and happy and proud to welcome you to our community which we love and enjoy sharing. I certainly do appologise if you felt we were grumpy - it is standard procedure and encouraged by our credit card processer that we see a picture I.D. which confirms your name on your credit card. I am sorry if you felt inconvenienced by this. This was not our intent.
I also am sorry that you were dissappointed in our back bedroom window that did not have a great view. Our front windows in our rooms do look out to the 5 acres of landscaped property and we do provide chairs all along the corridors to sit and look at these views. We understood that it was not what you were looking for, and therefore did not charge you and we were glad that you found accommodations that fit your needs. We appreciate the heads up and letting us know right away - which gave us the opportunity to rent the room to another guest.
Unfortunately, we do not have an indoor pool, our outdoor pool is seasonal- which is closed when the weather turns cold, and is available and well liked in the summer when the weather is warm. Again, we are pleased that you found accommodations here in Glenwood Springs with an indoor pool, and we are glad that you were able to enjoy our fun city.
Thank you,
General Manager

“Consistently OK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

have stayed here many times over the past 25 years on business and vacation. The property is well insulated from the highway and set back from the street in a pleasant setting from which you can easily walk to the hot springs pool or a variety of restaurants. The only negatives are that they won't give a AAA discount on weekends and the breakfast area can be EXTREMELY overcrowded, though ambience wise is far nicer than 99% of hotel breakfast rooms with a western theme and large stone fireplace blazing away. Get to breakfast before 8 and it is OK.

Room Tip: I prefer the elk building. It faces street but rooms are newer
