“Best pool according to my kids - even over the hot springs!!”

Our 3 kids under 5 found this to be the highlight of the trip. Great pool! Shallow water entry area for my 8 month old, tiger slide and rock fountain for my 4 year old, a fast splash slide for my 5 year old, and a large hot tub for my husband and I to relax in. Great staff - Solomon was extremely helpful at the front desk during check out - large breakfast room with plenty of choices. Hot waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, coffees, juices, etc. Great little escape for a family for $98 a night! (We visited in the off season.)

“Kid-friendly hotel with exceptional staff!”

The first thing I noticed when I stepped into the lobby was a member of the hotel staff watching a cartoon with a couple families that were all huddled under blankets on various furniture around the fireplace area. The guy with the hotel flashed a friendly smile and quickly helped us check in. I immediately recognized the name "Solomon" from someone elses review and was delighted at how he interacted with our three small kids. My five-year old boy has ADHD and can talk your ear off. Solomon listened patiently and attentively and then showed the kids the pool area with its kid-friendly wading area and water slides. We got a spacious room at a very affordable rate. The kids had an absolute blast at the pool area and each time we walked by the front desk someone was there to interact with our kids and make sure we were properly attended to. I even brought in some food from Chilis really late and the guy at the front desk let us use the breakfast room to dine in. This hotel caters to kids. Absolutely go here if you have children! If not, I would suggest it might be worth staying here just to interact with a hotel staff that gives a darn!

“Fun if you have kids. If you don't, skip it.”

We have stayed at this hotel several times, and it is always clean and well kept. This is the first time we have stayed since it switched from the AmericInn.

The good: The pool is great for the kids. The waterslide is a hit. The water is a little chilly, but the kids only notice that for a short time.

The price was high. It was about 30.00 higher than the other places that we have stayed at, and would recommend, including the Hampton Inn (next door), the ascend, across the way, and the Marriott, also across the river. We paid 109, and the going rate in those other hotels was 79.00. For that 30.00 we basically got access to the pool. The beds were nice, but no Hampton Inn. The rooms are standard, and average. The other thing we really noticed this time was the noise in the hallway. It feels like they are in your room. There were two teenage boys having a cursing match at 10:30 because one wouldn't let the other in the room. It was annoying.

I do have to say one final thing, immediately after leaving I thought my husband had grabbed my Oakley sunglasses on the table by his backpack, and he thought I had. I called when we were about 20 minutes out and asked them to hold them. They told me housekeeping never found them...shocker. That to me is customer service. You can be as nice as you want, but if you won't walk upstairs, grab my glasses, and hold them for a day until I roll back through, I am a little sour. Just glad it wasn't my cell phone.

All in all, this hotel is clean, and fun for kids. The staff is fine. The breakfast is your standard fare (The Ascend has a way better breakfast). If you have kids, and get a great rate, then stay here. If not, skip it and find another hotel. After what happened with my sunglasses, we won't go back. I wasn't that mad, just annoyed, but what if it was something bigger, how will they handle that? We come to GS at least 4 times a year, and have stayed in nicer, cheaper hotels. I will go a different direction next time.

Room Tip: Choose a parking lot facing room, and although the suites are nice, they are at the beginning of the...

“Fun for the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

The kids loved this place because of the pool. It has a corkscrew slide and a basketball hoop, plus an area for younger kids. The hotel is in good condition as well, typical 3 star type hotel, but the beds were a bit too hard for my husband and I. The breakfast was very boring, only 3 cereal selections, boxed doughnuts (no pastries), terrible coffee, but the kids always like the make your own waffle set-up. For those of us who like more protein for breakfast, there were hard boiled eggs, but that was it. It is right at the base of the gondola to the adventure park, so if you're going up there, it is a great location. All in all, we had a good time and would recommend this hotel to anyone with a family!

“Family friendly with great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

We were greeted by a wonderful smile and friendly face, Christian, on reception. The indoor pool was a wonderful treat for our 10 year old son. He made the most of it and went in every day. A fabulous location for the gondola and Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. Every evening there are hot cookies on reception for everyone! A great find.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors are best if you like to leave the window open all day.
