“we liked the turnovers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

I decided to stay here because I found a coupon at roomsaver.com to get a room for 49.99. We only stayed one night and we arrived late so we didn't need alot of amenities. The room was basic and comfortable. It had a microwave and refridgerator. The lobby had coffee and tea 24 hours. There was a free toothpaste sample and a free sample granola bar in the room.

I appreciated that the continental breakfast didn't end until 10:00. The breakfast didn't have a large selection but what they had was very good and it was atypical. There was no cold cereal or waffles. Instead they had homemade biscuits and gravy and homemade flaky apple and cherry turnovers that we loved! DD noted that the gravy didn't have meat in it. There were also store bought bagels and cream cheese and that was it in terms of food selections. The beverages included coffee, tea, orange juice, and hot chocolate.

We left to go ski and ride at Sunlight after breakfast so no other observations. The Ute trail at Sunlight is an awesome trail for beginners and advanced skiers and riders will enjoy it too. It is long and has rolling hills.

“Nice folks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We tried their special 2 nights, 2 dinners, 2 pool passses for $160. Great deal. Clean room, average, but with several HBO channels. Said the beds were new - they are. About what I expected, a little better actually. Decent hot tub. Not your 4 - 5 star to be sure, but not a dive either. Budget hotel, not a great breakfast, but we certainly felt we got our money's worth. Friendly staff.

Room Tip: 2nd story as some 1st floor are almost underground!

“A hotel that still allows smoking?!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

I want to preface this review by saying that there were good things and there were bad things about this hotel and that we had a dog with us so the room we stayed in may have been "dog approved" and that might change things a bit.

The Good:
The staff was excellent
The breakfast was good
Our room was clean (clean sheets and bathroom most importantly)
We didn't use it but the hot tub looked clean and nice

Normally that's all it takes to make me happy but I had issues with smells in this hotel.

The Bad:
They seem to have live-in residents on the lower floor on one side of the hotel (the side we stayed on of course) and those residents as well as possibly the staff are allowed to smoke in their rooms. The smoke wafts out of the basement and into the lobby and breakfast area and upstairs hallway which really bothered me. Our room was non-smoking but sometimes I could smell smoke by the door when going into the bathroom.
When we got to our room we opened the door and almost choked on the chemical carpet cleaner smell (this may be due to it being a dog room but I'm not sure). It actually burned my throat! We opened the window all the way (which had no screen) and turned on the fan to try to clear the air but after two days the smell was less but still there. We had to give our dog a bath when we got home because he smelled like it from laying on the floor.
There were also items that were definitely in disrepair which I normally would overlook but the smells were making me grumpy and made everthing seem worse...the bathtub was worn and discolored but they put a clean bath mat in it to cover it up, the fan in the bathroom was hanging by a wire, there was a hole in the back of the bathroom door, the sink dripped and was all discolored from the constant water, and the lampshade in the bedroom had burn marks.

Overall I wouldn't stay here again simply because of the smoking and chemical smells. It's a basic hotel and we did get a good price (we got the 2 nights, 2 pool passes and 2 dinners deal which when we subtracted out the dinners and pool the room was around $52/night). I would suggest that you try to get a price that isn't too much more at one of the many other hotels/motels that are in better repair, closer to downtown and don't allow indoor smoking.

“Great Amenities!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We went with another couple for 2 nights on Sept 9 2011 because they were offering a 2 night package which included 2 night lodging, 2 pool passes and 2 dinners for $169.00. WE had a nice time. Here is a breakdown.

Motel: We thought we made a huge mistake when we dove into the parking lot. We checked the room ffirst before we checked in because it looked so run down and dirty from the outside. The room is dated but clean. The bathroom was updated. We did not run the AC. There is table with 2 chairs, refrigerator and microwave, phone and TV.

Amenties: Great for such a little motel.
Cookies in afternoon
Sweet Tea all day long
Breakfast: Bisquits and gravey, danish, bagel, OJ, coffee
Bathroom: Toothpaste, ladies face cream, an ample size tube of body lotion, men's hair gel, hairdryer
Backyard: BBQ Grill, table and chairs, swing, Hot Tub
Microwave and refrigerator,

Staff: Very nice and customer oriented! Always smiling. 24 hour front desk service. They could not do enough for you., We ran out of towels and kleenix, We got them right away.
Gave us helpful information about where to eat and play. Great staff! I felt very welcome.

Housekeeping: the only negative is that we did not get housekeeping service until 4:00 pm. We said no to the service because we just got back from the hot springs and were in the process of taking a shower. Our friends across the hall did get their service early in the am.

Don't judge a book by its cover, it is old but very nice!

“Can't afford air conditioning”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

Hotel was at least fifty years old. Needs some serious remodeling. All common areas had no AC. It was 90+ in the hallways and the eating areas. The room AC took 1/2 the night to even begin to cool the rooms on the second floor. Maybe try the hotel in the winter.
