“A highlight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My family and I stayed in the Rose Suite of Rocky Mountain Chalet for eleven nights over Christmas, 2011. We are so glad we did.

The room has a lovely sunny aspect with views across the tubing park to the surrounding mountains. It was spacious with enough room for a family of four although we often spilled out into the inviting breakfast room. The breakfast and afternoon tea were simple and tasty – a lovely way to start and end the day. Lynda and her staff were always available, day and night, and looked after us extremely well. The whole place is immaculately clean.

Since we had come to Fraser Valley to ski at Winter Park, we had considered a ski-in/ski-out option at the Winter Park Resort itself. We decided to stay at Rocky Mountain Chalet instead so we could experience being part of a community – shopping at the Safeway across the road, cooking in the communal kitchen, talking to other travellers over dinner, ducking next door to eat cheap Mexican and even catching the free shuttle bus to the ski fields (10 minutes express).

All of this combined together to make our stay at Rocky Mountain Chalet one of the highlights of our trip.

“PERFECT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Perfect location, everything you need within a block, including Safeway, KFC, Mexican resteraunt in parking lot, train station 3.5 blocks away, bus stop to mountain .5 blocks. Awesome staff, very friendly guests, GREAT KITCHEN. I have made some good friends while staying there. I stayed closing week last April and was very happy with my choice to stay at RMC, will always stay when visiting WP solo. :)

“A Diamond in the Rough!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We just returned from a visit to Fraser over Christmas and we LOVED the Rocky Mtn Chalet!!
From the moment we arrived we felt like were were home (not to mention all the Floridians)...Lynda made us feel right at home and took care of every detail...she is a GEM! We cannot say enough great things about this inn (hostel) nestled in Fraser...We stayed in The Sleigh room downstairs....The rooms are nice and comfy with warm robes and slippers....breakfast was perfect each morning. Noise was NEVER and issue except for the train whistle! We loved the 'casual' atmosphere; PJ's were acceptable in the breakfast area/fireplace. They are conveniently located between Winter Park and Granby. This was a great find for us and we will be back!

“What a find!”

We spent 5 nights here while exploring the Rocky Mountain back roads in our 4wd vehicle. The location was great for us. It might be a bit far out for the average sightseer. Rocky Mountain National Park is about 30 miles north and Mt Evans and Blackhawk casino area is about 30 or 40 miles south and east. Winter Park ski area is only 5 miles away so there are lots of restaurants nearby as well as summer activities for families. There is a mexican restaurant which shares the parking lot of the hotel so lunch and dinners are no problem. They have free breakfast foods, coffee and juices available in the kitchen downstairs which is for the use of the 5 private rooms only. It is a fully functional kitchen which can be used to whip up full meals if you so desired.
The hotel has 5 rooms downstairs, it used to be a B & B. There is a hostel upstairs. The facility is squeaky clean. REALLY CLEAN! Shoes off at the door policy keeps it that way. The linens and furnishings are nicer than the average hotel and the rooms are large. The beds and pillows were great. Our room had a private balcony overlooking a burbling creek with meadow grasses and flowers everywhere. Great mountain views too. Freight trains pass by often during the day but did not disturb our sleep. We rather enjoyed them. There was free wifi if you brought your own laptop and also a community computer available for $3 per hour. There is no cable television but DVD's are available for free. The only negative is there was no desk and chair to set up the laptop which made for some awkward positions as I will not set the laptop on the bedcovers due to overheating. I finally set it on a bedside table and pulled a footstool from the closet (intended for inserting the DVD's into the very high player) up to perch on while typing.
Overall this was a great place for us to stay and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

“Quaint, lovely night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

My husband and I were on our honeymoon the first week of October. As we drove through Fraser we stopped at the "Visitor's Center". When we asked about lodging, Mary suggested the "RMC". WE were so glad she did. We stayed an additional night because we enjoyed it so much. It is a very clean & comfortable place with all the comforts of home. We had robes in our room, a full sized kitchen upstairs at our use, a variety of DVDs to watch, and all for the most reasonable "bang for your buck". For 8 days we drove all over Colorado, & it was one of our absolute favorites. We highly recommend it!

Room Tip: We stayed in "Leigh"...love the rustic ceiling beams
