We had tried to stay in a number of other hotels and all were full so when we found out Motel 6 in Fort Lupton was available we quickly hurried over to get a room. We arrived about midnight and were given a room with two double beds on the first floor. It smelled absolutely horrible when we entered. It was supposed to be a nonsmoking room but it reeked from cigarettes and other smells. The two beds were hardly off the ground and slanted oddly like the mattresses were worn and broken. The room and furnishings looked very old and outdated which wouldn't have bothered us much except everything seemed dirty. We didn't even want to touch the bedspreads. The bathroom tub was chipped and since I wanted to give my daughter a bath right away I started it while my husband brought in our bags. When he was finished he said he had a bad feeling about the place as did I. There were people loitering around outside, sitting on the curb of the motel that he had to walk through when bringing in our bags. The overall dumpiness and uneasiness of the place made us quickly grab our bags and leave. I couldn't even get the bathtub water to empty because of some faultiness with the drain. We drove on down the road to another place.
