“1/2 the price - clean, quiet & respectful in a friendly town”

Linda & Rich are the owners, and they care. Having a fridge & microwave in the room was nice, very clean bedding, towels & bathroom. We visited the area for the Sand Dunes and the historical museums, etc. Hotels in Alamosa wanted twice the rate and not all of them take pets. Our well-behaved dog, as well as the other well-behaved dogs, were welcome at the Lodge Motel. It was quiet, guests were respectful of one another, and it was at full capacity so that's saying something! So if you're a loud family with ill-behaved screaming children or if you're accustomed to being drunk and disrespectful at late hours, stay at one of the large chain hotels in the Alamosa area.

Stop by the Ute Creek Station Coffeehouse for your must-haves. The Silver Sage Steakhouse was a good meal for a decent price.

This area is a beautiful part of Colorado with a rich history, with hardworking people in real towns, not a transient seasonal area feel with corporate fabricated stores & Starbucks. Fort Garland is a sweet small town with friendly locals and no touristy backlash. Patronize the local businesses and enjoy your trip to the San Luis Valley!

“Better than alot of $100 motels at half the price”

Stayed here on way to Durango. Place was very rustic and quaint. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and our king size bed was very comfortable. It also had a small fridge and microwave. No outlets in bathroom and a lumpy floor were the only complaints but no big deal really. Best of all we only paid $50 for the night. Not much going on in Fort Garland. We did have a nice dinner at Del's Diner. No cell phone coverage at all for T-mobile.

“Unique”

My husband and I wanted to stay in Ft. Garland, Colorado, being that our property is in the area. There are only two choices for hotels in the town and I chose The Lodge Motel simply because the last time we vacationed in the area, I called the other hotel and was told to call back to speak with someone and although I did manage to get a price, I was not helped, so we stayed in Alamosa (overpriced hotel). So this time around, I decided to call The Lodge Motel and actually spoke with Linda Gabe (owner/operator). She was extremely friendly over the phone and gave me her email address to confirm our reservation. I made the reservation in March for our stay in May. It's not a fancy motel, but it is right on the main street of Ft. Garland and I was impressed on the speed of checking in with Linda (not the owner, but a staff member), she was also very friendly. Our room was extremely clean. The lighting isn't that great inside, nor are there any outlets in the bathroom, however, I managed in using my hairdryer in the room itself. All of their rooms come with a TV (limited channels you can access), coffee pot, microwave and small fridge. Plenty of room to put your clothes and I was very impressed that hangers were provided. I took my own hangers just in case, because the majority of hotels/motels only provide a few. This motel gets really busy during hunting season and holidays, but we chose to stay from May 25 to May 29th, to avoid the busy time and we were very please on how quiet it was. The Lodge Motel has horse boarding as well, so if you have a horse or two and are traveling thru, you can board your horse!! The Loge Motel also allows pets!!! We were very pleased with our stay and have booked another stay for longer in September, before another busy season begins for them. As for price, it ranges from $45 per night on up, it is very reasonable. If you are traveling thru or planning on hunting in the area, it is a nice and quiet place to stay. They have both smoking and non-smoking rooms and if you want to eat, there are plenty of places to choose from that are within walking distance of the hotel. I definately recommend this hotel if you like it simple and quiet. If you want the fancy and overpriced....check elsewhere.

“a pleasant surprise”

This little motel had a nice, well-kept, clean room for a much better price than hotels in the surrounding areas. The desk staff was incredibly friendly, too. It seems to be primarily frequented by hunters instead of tourists, so if you're looking for "off the beaten path" or "where the locals stay" I think this is it. We were very pleasantly surprised by this little place!
