“Great place!”

We were on our way home to Louisiana and I wanted to surprise my 15 and 16 yr old children with one more site. Since Great Sand Dune National Park is about 70 miles west of I-25 I wanted to travel as close to the park that night and get up to visit the park the next morning. The owners were so nice waiting for us to arrive - we were later than I thought we would be! I am picky... The room was clean and neat. I was truly pleased t

“Like something out of a horror movie but friendly, clean and comfortable”

We British are often sucked in by American horror movies, especially those featuring motels! This one seemed to match those that appear in movies with its quiet location and eerie feel. However, the staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was clean and comfortable and overall was very good value. Good stay!

“Stay here - best value, clean, friendly, old-fashioned service with a smile”

The Lodge is my favorite place to stay in Fort Garland.

They allow pets, the place is clean, the beds are uber-comfortable. Rooms are HUGE and offer either 2 Queen Beds or 1 Queen and 1 Double, mini-fridge, coffee and coffee pot, cable TV and many rooms have WiFi.

This is a smaller Mom & Pop run motel and the owners are fabulous, friendly hard-working folks.

We live in the area and stop over the Lodge about every 8-10 weeks for a mini-get away.

I think their off season prices start around $50 per night so the value is excellent.

The only drawback I can think of as mentioned previously, there are no outlets in the bathroom and they do not provide hair dryers.

“Great little motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2011

When we first drove up, I thought "hmmm...". But once we checked the rooms, I was at ease. This place is a gem! Sure, the floors are lumpy, but that just added to the charm. The rooms are _huge_ compared to other motels. The microwave, refrigerator, TV and coffee makers looked new. I couldn't believe we had WiFi. The beds were very comfortable. After a long day playing tourist at the Dunes, this was a wonderful place to stay. I've been to Fort Garland many times, but usually camped at the Dunes. This time was with two girls, spouse and mother-in-law. We got two rooms for the price of one anywhere else. There's a nice playground a few blocks away. Dinner at the Silver Sage Steakhouse made it a perfect evening. The owner of this motel obviously works his butt off. Very clean, nice motel. A great experience in Fort Garland, one of my favorite places on earth.

“1/2 the price - clean, quiet & respectful in a friendly town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2009

Linda & Rich are the owners, and they care. Having a fridge & microwave in the room was nice, very clean bedding, towels & bathroom. We visited the area for the Sand Dunes and the historical museums, etc. Hotels in Alamosa wanted twice the rate and not all of them take pets. Our well-behaved dog, as well as the other well-behaved dogs, were welcome at the Lodge Motel. It was quiet, guests were respectful of one another, and it was at full capacity so that's saying something! So if you're a loud family with ill-behaved screaming children or if you're accustomed to being drunk and disrespectful at late hours, stay at one of the large chain hotels in the Alamosa area.

Stop by the Ute Creek Station Coffeehouse for your must-haves. The Silver Sage Steakhouse was a good meal for a decent price.

This area is a beautiful part of Colorado with a rich history, with hardworking people in real towns, not a transient seasonal area feel with corporate fabricated stores & Starbucks. Fort Garland is a sweet small town with friendly locals and no touristy backlash. Patronize the local businesses and enjoy your trip to the San Luis Valley!
