“Wow ... Not Good”

When I arrived at the Days Inn everything seemed great. It was clean and tidy at the front desk and the woman at the front desk was pleasant. However, as soon as I walked down the hallway to my room a small dog came running down the hallway towards me, barking. Its owner called it back into their room with the door propped open and away it went. Later than evening some small dog had used the hallway as its personal toilet and no one bothered to pick it up. I called the front desk to let them know and nobody answered the phone. Ugh.

All that evening I was trying to use the free Wi-Fi to get real estate listings to look at the next day, but it was so excruciatingly slow that I gave up. I thought that perhaps a lot of people were browsing the Internet and I would have better luck in the morning. When the morning came I tried again and it was still slow. A visit to DSLReports.com confirmed it - 70k down and 200k up. That's barely faster than dial-up. I called the front desk and let it ring more than 20 times. No answer. I walked up to the front desk and saw the clerk just sitting there doing nothing in particular. I just went back to my room to pack up my things and leave. As I was carrying my luggage to the car I stumbled upon the same dog crap in the hallway that I had seen the night before.

The kicker is that when I reported this experience to Wyndham (the owners of the Days Inn franchise), I received a voicemail from somebody at the Fort Collins Days Inn who sounded very stoned (think Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High).

Hello Bobber3,
I recall the first time I read your response and how you desribed the phone call I made to you. I supose someone who is so familiar with how a person may sound under the influence of marijuana may also be familiar with the fact their eyesight may be impaired as well. Mistaken clumps of mud for dog poop is a logical conclusion wouldn't you say? It's not much of an excuse, however, there is only one attendant on sight of our hotel (normaly) after 3pm until 7am and it is understandable for that representative to be assisting other guest and away from the desk. I am puzzled you didn't take the opportunity to make the front desk aware of any issue when you went to go see him/her, "doing nothing in particular." We can't correct an issue if we do not know one exists. I regret you did not enjoy your stay with us, but hope you will give us a second chance to exonerate not only our staff but also cleanliness of our property and speed of the internet (which has been updated since your stay).

We travled thru Ft Collins down to Phoenix and we liked it so much we stayed again when we traveled back thru on our way home. Staff was friendly and helpful! Breakfast was good. Hi punkitty,
We were delighted have you two and your pooch stay with us. Everyone, including the owners at our hotel are animal lovers and understand it is not always an option to leave your pets at home. If your traveling through again anytime soon and choose to stay with us just mention the pillowtop beds to the front desk so we can make your stay as comfortable as the 1st and second times. Thank you so much for your feedback, it makes it all worthwhile to hear when guests are genuinely happy with our services.

“I will be comming back!!!”

I read a few of the other reviews and wanted to sign up just to let other perspective visitors know my experience with the DaysInn. Just walking in to this hotel the customer service was exceptional and didn't end until my stay was over. I had a couple issues with the internet and my toilet constantly running, however both issues were resolved quickly and the internet issue was my own fault. The room was cozy, not extravegant, but for the money was worth every penny. It was my first time in Fort Collins and was hesitant of venturing into town, but once again the gal at the front desk was more than helpful. She even printed me out a map. Simply, I felt well taken care of and comfortable. That is what makes a hotel great-of course in my opinion. If I visit fort collins again I know where I'm going to stay. Thank you.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

After checking in I began trying to get online (FREE WI-FI) but the signal was so EXTREMELY weak that every time I DID connect I was immediately knocked off. After eating in my room I reached over to the night stand for my drink and there were about 20 ants roaming about the bottom of my cup. This was only condensation but I quickly ran to get some tissues, mopped up the water AND the ants which I carried up to the front desk. I returned to my room and within a few minutes the manager(?) entered with a can of RAID which she sprayed liberally along the baseboard of my 12 x 12 room. I don't know if she was expecting me to be grateful but when I complained about having tried since my check-in the day before to get on-line she began with "the weather interferred" then it was "the hotel is full.' I asked her to leave as I didn't feel like having an argument in my room. I turned on the A/C and I spent 2 hours at Wal-Mart to avoid the smell. Luckily I didn't have to stay the 4 nights I was expecting. Later when I received the request to fill out a "comment" about my stay they responded saying they had offered me another room (which they did NOT) AND because the Wi-Fi was a FREE amenity it could not be adjusted on the bill. I'm confused as I believe a toilet is considered a FREE amenity as well but I'm sure if it was not working someone would have apologized accordingly. If I sound frustrated this is the SECOND time I have been promised FREE Wi-Fi that was non-existent. The whole experience was frustrating and uncomfortable.

“Good rates, clean hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

Stayed 4 nights over 4th July weekend. The hotel was simple, but very clean inside and outside with nice breakfast in the mornings. The rate was very good for what we got, and especially compared to others in the area. Only 4 to 5 minutes drive from downtown Fort Collins, and not far from I-25. Other clientele for the hotel were normal and respectful, mostly older couples or families seeking an affordable and clean place to stay. Will definitely come back to this hotel again when in Fort Collins!
