When I arrived at the Days Inn everything seemed great. It was clean and tidy at the front desk and the woman at the front desk was pleasant. However, as soon as I walked down the hallway to my room a small dog came running down the hallway towards me, barking. Its owner called it back into their room with the door propped open and away it went. Later than evening some small dog had used the hallway as its personal toilet and no one bothered to pick it up. I called the front desk to let them know and nobody answered the phone. Ugh.
All that evening I was trying to use the free Wi-Fi to get real estate listings to look at the next day, but it was so excruciatingly slow that I gave up. I thought that perhaps a lot of people were browsing the Internet and I would have better luck in the morning. When the morning came I tried again and it was still slow. A visit to DSLReports.com confirmed it - 70k down and 200k up. That's barely faster than dial-up. I called the front desk and let it ring more than 20 times. No answer. I walked up to the front desk and saw the clerk just sitting there doing nothing in particular. I just went back to my room to pack up my things and leave. As I was carrying my luggage to the car I stumbled upon the same dog crap in the hallway that I had seen the night before.
The kicker is that when I reported this experience to Wyndham (the owners of the Days Inn franchise), I received a voicemail from somebody at the Fort Collins Days Inn who sounded very stoned (think Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High).
