We stayed at Highland Haven Inn on our first night in Colorado. Driving into Evergreen we passed a cute little downtown area and then turned off the main road in towards the inn. Its tucked quietly behind a little bit of mountainside and you quickly notice the beautiful rambling creek running along the front of the property. We crossed a little bridge atop the creek and went right in to check in. We were greeted by one of the innkeepers who kindly told us we'd been upgraded to a creekside cabin. We were so ecstatic as just before we arrived we had been lucky enough to see an entire heard of elk, so far our trip was off to a fantastic start. The creekside cabin was so adorable. You get your own little front porch where you can sit and take in the absolute beauty of the property. Inside the cabin it is nicely appointed with a wood burning fireplace, a kitchen, desk area, seating area, tv and of course a bed. The thing I truly loved about this place was the stlying, they truly thought of every little detail. This is not your typical B&B, it has the feeling of a warm modern lodge. I fell in love with this little bear lamp they had chair side, just one of the many details that creates completes the feeling of the space. The weather was so nice we opened the windows to enjoy the fresh air. Hard to believe this was possible coming from Florida in the dead of summer. The next morning we awoke, we walked over to the main building to partake in breakfast. There was a njce assortment of fruit, pastries and a crustless quiche along with coffee and juices. Partaking in the beautiful weather we decided to take our breakfast outside. Creekside they have adirondack chairs with cushions and umbrellas. The perfect cool morning air creekside was gorgeous, I litterally could have sat there all day. The family that owns this truly have a little piece of heaven here. We will definitely be back, next time I'd splurge and go for the tree house cabin. This place is amazing, now on my short list of places I absolutely adore.
