We just got back from a Family Reunion the first week of July. Besides the perfect mountain weather (mid 40s to mid 70s and plenty of sunshine), this location was hard to beat.
This upscale home was located in the gated community of Arrowhead, within 5-10 minutes of Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch. The owner had advertised eight bedrooms which can comfortably sleep up to 28. Truthfully, there were only 6 true bedrooms, but it probably could sleep up to 28 comfortably if you add up all of the sleeper sofas as well.
The main floor consisted of a large master's suite (king) with a walk-in shower and a large jetted tub, and the two other bedrooms (king & queen) had their own full baths as well. A spacious living room, dining area, and well-equipped kitchen provided plenty of space for meals and entertainment. A half bath was available for quick potty breaks. There was a sleeper sofa (queen) in the living area. Total sleep space could be 8-12 on this floor.
The lower floor housed a spacious playroom with a regulation pool table, an entertainment center, and two more sleeper sofas (queens). One bedroom contained a queen bed with an adjoining large walk-in closet which was converted into another bedroom (double). This was not a true bedroom in my opinion, but it was nicely decorated like any other bedroom. The other room had a bedroom within a bedroom setup. The smaller private bedroom had a double bed, and the larger area had a queen bed with two more trundle beds. This makes 6 bedrooms total to me. There were two full baths to be split between all of the lower floor tenants, which can be a little tight because this floor can sleep potentially up to 16 people.
Every bedroom was tastefully decorated and had cable TV. Wireless DSL was available throughout the house which was wonderful as we had 6 laptops! Linens were comfortable, and clean towels were plentiful. Unfortunately, we had to go out and buy our own shampoo/conditioner as none could be found, but that was not a problem as we made several trips to the local Walmart Supercenter to replenish our supplies.
The large deck and backyard were great as the nice weather promoted being ourdoors. The gas grill was used daily; the 6 person hot tub was occupied frequently; and the two tennis courts were literally ten paces from the deck! One minor gripe was that the local pool (albeit a nice one) was about 0.6 mi away, so we had to drive there as the kids did not want to walk. Near the pool was Arrowhead ski lift which allowed for village-to-village skiing during the winter months. There was some landscaping construction in the front yard, but it really was not that much of a hindrance. We had plenty of parking space for four large SUVs.
The group also enjoyed hiking & mountain biking at the nearby Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts, golfing at some very scenic and challenging courses (Red Sky Ranch & BC Golf Club), experiencing a real life rodeo, putt-putting in Beaver Creek village, fly-fishing (none bit), and shopping at upscale as well as outlet stores around the area.
This home was ideal for our large family reunion, and I highly recommended it. The cost for the week was very reasonable once it was divided amongst all of the families. This house definitely deserve a return trip.
