“Spacious is the word for these rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

For the cost ($107) and season (New Year's Eve), the rooms were a good value. A true suite with a separate living and bedroom area. Small kitchenette area (fridge, m/w, mini coffee pot). Bathroom was a little dingy, hotel showing age. This place is popular with families who come to ski, so be prepared for lots of little ones at breakfast in their pajamas (as well as some older ones; wish hotels would tell people to treat the breakfast area as if it were a restaurant). The room we stayed in (323) had a mechanical chase and there was a constant and very annoying noise all night long. Also, we were near the ice machine, so that also added unwanted noise. I'd probably would've rated this hotel higher if it were not for the noise annoyance in the room we had.

Room Tip: Do NOT get room 323

“Not bad, but we've stayed in better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We stayed in a king suite (a living room with a pull-out couch and a bedroom with a king bed) for a couple of days. The bed was comfortable, the couch was not too bad, as far as pull-out couches go. The rate was $99/night, including a full breakfast, and I felt that was a good deal. The breakfast was decent (eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fruit, donuts, etc.) and the staff was nice. The coffee was horrid (it usually is in hotel buffets), but there is a Starbucks in the Albertson's grocery store down the street.

Our room had a microwave, coffee maker, and a refrigerator. The refrigerator was bigger than many of the ones I've seen in other hotels. There was an in-room safe and lots of drawers to store our things. The closet was too small though, because it was stuffed with the in-room safe and ironing board. There were flat screen tvs with remotes in both the bedroom and living room

Unfortunately, we stayed on the side of the hotel that faces the main road and it was LOUD! This could have been due to the fact that the wall heating unit was not properly insulated and we could see daylight through it (as you might imagine, this caused quite a draft). The road quiets down around 11 to 12 pm, then starts getting noisy again around 7 am. The walls were also thin and we could hear our neighbors bustling about.

The pool and hot tub area were small, but clean. Unfortunately they were out of order, so we didn't get to try them. The fitness center looked good--it wasn't huge, but they had 3 or 4 cardio machines and a universal machine.

I would consider staying here again because it was cheap and clean, but only if I got a room on the other side of the building. The location is convenient--a few minutes from the mall in one direction and a few minutes from downtown in the other.

“great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

This was one of the nicest Comfort Inn’s I’ve stayed in, for one of the best prices (although, we were there during an off season, so probably cheaper than usual). Room was updated, nice furniture and décor, comfy beds, granite counter tops in the bathroom, flat screen TV, fridge and microwave. Laundry room was clean, upscale looking lobby and fitness area, although pool area was closed during our stay(it looked like they were putting in a new hot tub). Also appreciated that this hotel was entirely smoke and pet free, I felt like the whole place had a generally cleaner scent and appearance as a result. I was also pretty impressed by the breakfast, which included scrambled eggs, regular and blueberry waffles, and some days sausage, some days biscuits and gravy, plus lots of seating. Most impressive of all about the breakfast area was that it was well stocked, it seemed as though each morning there was one employee devoted to keeping the area clean and full of food. Too often a hotel will advertise hot breakfast and be out of eggs and coffee within the first hour or two…this was definitely not the case here!

The staff was also super friendly and helpful, I couldn’t have asked for a better hotel stay. It was clear to me that this place was well run. A few days later I was passing through the area again, and decided to stay in Durango just because I knew this place would exceed my expectations. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

“Comfort, Value, Gracious Hosts, What More Do You Want”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

A very comfortable hotel with a gracious staff at a reasonalbe price. Our advance request for a ground floor room was promptly provided. A few minutes later we discovered that the brand new 48" flat screen TV did not want to provide sound for local network channels. The desk clerk responded quickly, collaborated with maintenance, and said this more than they could handle. We were promptly upgraded to a suite on the second floor with no increase in the rate. Breakfast was as good as these type of hotels provide. We were happy and took our fresh brewed coffee and hit the road. If staying in Durango is in our future we will check here first.

Room Tip: BAck side of the hotel is probably quiter, but we were not disturbed on the front side.

“Good value in a convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

We began and ended our Colorado vacation with brief stays at this hotel. We were very happy with the location, convenient to the airport and just a few minutes' drive from downtown Durango. There's also a natural foods grocery just across the street where we loaded up on healthy snacks for the road. The front desk staff was particularly helpful when I called for reservations, providing information about the area, weather, etc. No rooms appeared to be available on internet sites, but when I called I had no trouble getting a reservation. The rooms were very basic, but adequate. As other reviews have noted the breakfast does end promptly regardless of how many guests are still eating or arriving.
