“Nothing to write home about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

My husband stayed here on a cross country trip. There is nothing special about this place. The door to your room is exterior and the place has been around forever and is in need of some updating.
The bed was average and well we slept well it was really because of the long journey and not the comfort the hotel offered. It is on a busy street and if you don't have white noise going on all you hear is the traffic throughout the night.
The price was very reasonable one of the reasons we stayed here and for being cleaned by a bunch of teenagers the place was surprisingly clean. Breakfast was a joke- your better of going on over to the brick house cafe- well worth the wait and charm.

“old and kind of dumpy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

sign in room says it is the oldest motel in the SW with pictures of changes over the years, last change made sometime in the 70s. Time for a complete overhaul. Probably or maybe the lowest priced motel in Durango but still too expensive. Young woman in office needs lots of training.

“Nice little spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

I absolutely love Durango, Colorado. There is great snow boarding and the City itself is just so cozy and inviting. I use to stay at the Econo Lodge nearly every weekend for about a year and I never had any complaints. There service was always great and the rooms were always clean. The rates are typically the best in town and if you like to bargain you can usually drop the price a little. Over all I would highly recommend this hotel. It definitely hold a spot close to my heart.

“You get what you can trying to save a buck in Durango”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

I paid around $80 for a single room which is pretty cheap by Durango standards. It was rundown but fairly clean. The bed sagged and North Main traffic roars until late in the evening. But all these motels on Main have the same problems so price and reasonable cleanliness drive me when staying there. So I found it satisfactory and was pleasantly surprised by an adequate continental breakfast.

“Better Than Expected For Budget-friendly Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

On our recent short 2-day in-and-out visit to Durango to take care of some family business, we needed a budget friendly place to stay for our family of 4. There were no vacancies in any of the Best Westerns or other budget-friendly places in town. After searching online and finally calling, the Econo Lodge was the only place in town with any openings for our needs. I was very nervous at first after reading the reviews on here BUT after arriving very pleasantly surprised. They allowed us to check-in at 4am and were quick and friendly. Our rooms were very clean with new, fresh bedding, mattresses and linens. The bathroom and room was appropriately stocked and there were no strange odors. The shower worked with actual water pressure (hard to find in these under $90/night motels). We were surrounded by other friendly tourists and a staff that was attentive to any of our small requests. Maid service was not intrusive and very thorough with them restocking all the towels and supplies. For the price, the continental breakfast was great! Upon leaving, the staff asked for feedback and ideas for improvements, since apparently they are in the process of updating the motel gradually. That is their biggest drawback- don't go expecting a fully renovated motel. It shows it's age on the exterior and interior but you can see where they are updating when they can. Overall, if you're looking for a no-frills, basic, very wallet easy stay then don't have any fear staying here for your quick stay.

Room Tip: Stay in the upper level to stay away from street noise and the ice machine.
