I've stayed many other places in Durango but will never stay anywhere else again! The Logwood is clean, welcoming, quiet, and beautiful. The backyard has a stream, deer, fishing, and every kind of bird and butterfly imaginable. The front yard is shaded by oak trees which had acorns that attract the deer, and so much to look at, so you couldn't possibly be bored. There is a fireplace, game room with tv, pool table and board games available in case of bad weather, as well as informational books on the wildlife in the area. I grabbed a pillow and blanket and made myself comfortable in one of the over size chairs in the tv room, read a book, and wasn't disturbed all afternoon. The next afternoon I took a nap on a bench by the stream. My room was comfortable, with gorgeous quilts on the beds, and I slept with the window open and fan on, it was some of the best sleep I've had in a long time! It feels like you are in your own home, and Miles, the host, made cookies at least once a day, and had a plate of them by the front door with your keys and receipt for when you checked in if he had to be away from the front desk for a moment. Miles also made the best quiches I've ever eaten, and the french toast he made was to die for! Orange juice, coffee, tea and water were all offered with breakfast, and we had some of the most interesting conversations with people from everywhere at the table. There are refrigerators available for your leftovers from restaurants, or for your own drinks and snacks, cutlery and plates available, and as I said, you felt as though you were at home, and could help yourself to anything. I will never stay anywhere else again, and Miles even offered to give my grandkids snowboard lessons if I bring them! This is THE prettiest, most comfortable, welcoming place I think I've ever stayed anywhere in the US.
