“Stay At Your Own Risk!!”

I had the unfortunate experience of renting a room for the month, and was very dissapointed with the total lack of Hospitality, and Resect! The manager/Owner is a very disrespectful, and Dishonorable individual.. He intentionally rented me a room with severe water damage that smelled like rotten mold. The motel has bed bugs in certain rooms, and it is just a matter before the entire motel is infested, due to lack of sanitation from the manager/owner. The only positive is the location, so beware not to take home any excess filth our bugs from your stay at this very sad and depressing motel.

Room Tip: Enter any, and all rooms at youe own risk!

“Unsanitary conditions with condescending and rude ownership”

I knew it was risky renting a room at a motel on the fly in a city center, but we were exhausted and needed a place to crash. For $55 a night, I knew it couldn't be beat, and I had my expectations set quite low for that price. Even with low expectations, I am disappointed. I was willing to forgive the owners condescending tone and casual saunter to our room when the key wouldn't work. I could have overlooked the dust covered room, old furniture, cigarette burned trays, and mildew covered shower curtain. But, when my partner woke up at 530 covered, literally covered, in bug bites, that was it. Luckily the motel does have WiFi so I was able to research what to do, but having just checked out this morning, we still are at a laundry washing and rewashing, and also spending $90 on new clothes so we don't take bed bugs back home with us. When I brought it to the owners attention, he did seem surprised and refunded our money, but please be wary.

“OK Budget Motel in Downtown Denver”

Reserved a room at the Broadway Plaza Motel for New Year's Eve 2009. The rate was under $100 for a room with two queen beds, and I booked it knowing it wasn't the Ritz or the Brown Palace. The non smoking rooms were in OK shape, but considering the location this place is lightyears better than the place acorss from the street (11th Ave. Motel).

If you're looking for a cheap place to crash when you're in downtown Denver, I can't think of any other place that will beat the location and price. Just reserve in advance and get a non smoking room.

“Trashy motel, trash owners, total dump!!”

This place is truly the worst I have ever seen. The bathroom ceiling had caved in from water damage as did the wall around the shower head and was never fixed. The water in the tub didn't even get warm enough that you needed to turn on the cold water which was good as there was none in the bathroom sink. There was only 1 bath towel and no wash cloths for 2 people. There was still hair in the bath tub from someone else and the tub drain was nearly plugged. The bed had springs sticking out and 3 very flat pillows. When I went to ask for another pillow I was told there were no other pillows than what were in the rooms. The man at the desk was very rude, while hiding behind the glass partion! The elevator was disgusting as your shoes stuck to the broken tile flooring. There were burn holes in the furniture, bedding and linoleum. The bathroom door would not latch, the a/c was controlled by an on off switch-no thermostat and the heat was supplied by a plastic space heater! The room was dirty, the pictures hung crooked on the walls, the blinds wouldn't stay shut on their own. There is parking for 10 vehicles and 30 rooms! To top it off they rent the parking to businesses during the day. And all of this and more for only $60.00. I almost forgot the free music at night from the club across the street, and then all the wonderful folks partying in the street outside after it closed right outside my door. I guess you could say that we won't be staying in this pit EVER again, no smoke detector working either. OK I feel a little better now, don't make the same mistake!

“PERFECT place to stay after visiting the nightclubs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2009

I stayed at the Broadway Plaza Motel THREE times, the first time in September of 2003, the second in September of 2007, and again in September of 2008. In every one of these instances, I had been by myself, just enjoying the city and the nightlife it has to offer.

The greatest advantage this motel has to offer is its VALUE and LOCATION. For only $65 per night, FREE parking and within walking distance to two popular nightclubs (diagonally across the street from the Vinyl nightclub and only two blocks away from the Church nightclub) this is the PERFECT place to stay after a night of partying. ESPECIALLY after drinking! Sure beats having to pay for a cab ride! Beta Nightclub is a lengthier walk, perhaps more practical taking a cab there, but still walkable (only 20 minutes). It is also just two or three blocks away from the Public Libary, Civic Square, Art Museums, the Capital Building, 16th Street Mall, restaurants and many other popular downtown attractions.

Is it the most cleanest and upscale of places? Of course not! But for only $65 a night, you get what you pay for. A simple, economical, no-frills place for the budget-minded traveler. So if you're used to the kind of crisp and clean, modern-looking motel that have fancy lobbies, lovely wallpaper and artwork, offers continental breakfasts, room service, hair dryers in the bathrooms, a coffeemaker in your room, etc., then this is NOT the place for you.

The building itself is 60 years old and appears to have seen better days. The rooms may not be as "plush" and luxurious as some of the 4 or 5 star hotels I've stayed at, but decent, roomy and comfortable. The beds were a little firm, but I slept well. The last time I stayed, it reached 85 degrees outside and noticed that the air conditioning unit ran weak. It only had two settings: ON or OFF, and whenever it was on, it blew a slow current of cool (not cold) air. Had it been any warmer and if I didn't have plans during the day outside my motel room, it would've been VERY uncomfortable. So word to the wise, if you're planning to stay there during the summer months, this may NOT be the place for you! Even though its cooler at night, you'd still want the air on for circulation, and for me it was tolerable (though not 100% completely comfortable).

I strongly suggest a NON-SMOKING room, as the very first night I ever spent there I made the mistake of choosing a smoking room thinking I might enjoy a cigar. Well let me tell you, the room smelt like a dirty ashtray....it was disgusting! Luckily with a little Lysol I just happened to have in my suitcase, that took care of the problem and made my stay more bearable. However, not fair to someone who doesn't carry Lysol!

Keep in mind, you're at a very busy intersection and will constantly have to put up with the sounds of traffic and an occasional siren. So as long as your door is closed, however, it's not as noticeable.

Some rooms have refrigerators and/or microwave ovens, others don't or just have one or the other. If that's important to you, be sure to ask the clerk at the front desk when booking your room. There's also an ice machine on every floor. Perhaps the nicest and most "upscale" of the few ammenities offered there.

The folks at the front desk were OK with me, and even provided me with timely wake-up calls as promised and helpful in suggesting places to eat. It appears to be a mom-and-pop run motel by an Asian couple, and so as long as you respect them they'll offer you the same.

Also, I think it's very important to note that there DID appear to be a seedy element there that might not make some people feel comfortable staying there, especially women. 2 out of 3 times I was there, there were some rather unusual and bizarre incidents that made my stay interesting on at least one night on each stay. One time, I was awoken by some guy knocking on my door looking for a woman (presumably a prostitute) but didn't feel threatened at all. In fact, once he realized I was completely by myself, he was quite apologetic for having knocked on the wrong door. Another time, I've seen the otherwise mild-mannered asian kid at the front desk threaten to call the cops on this one guy who was drunk and rowdy....never bother me though, and actually found it kind of funny to be honest with you. One or two others I've seen lingering around appeared to be drug addicts, but that's THEIR business and paid no mind to that all. So as long as you don't give anyone any dirty looks and mind your own business, they'll leave you alone and as a result I felt relatively safe. Plus NO valuables of mine were stolen either, so that's a good sign!

So, in a nutshell, is this the kind of place you'd want to spend your honeymoon at or a quiet romantic weekend, or time with your family? Probably not. But if you're just looking to just hang out with friends, party, have a good time and looking for a super-convenient and inexpensive and no-frills place to stay, then you've found it right here.
