I am a neighbor, but if I booked into this place without knowing how it is, I would not stay once I saw it. While I feel the staff at the Newhouse Hotel is very nice, this is not really a hotel like you would think of if you were vacationing. A lot of people who have just been released from prison stay here. Although it is directly across from the state capitol building, it is not the type of place a vacationer would stay. There are residents who have lived there for years - it is where people who are down & out go. Basically one step up from homelessness. PLEASE AVOID IF YOU ARE FEMALE OR TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN.
