“MighTy fine!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I've stayed at one other Crowne Plaza (LAX) a couple yrs back and found it well, OK (at the time a bit dated). So I honestly wasn't expecting much in the way of being up to date as far as the room went for this location. Upon check in there was a slight discrepensey with the incidentals (my fault) but it was quickly taken care of promptly and professionally. If one is a female traveling on her own I would highly suggest this property. No one can access the guest room floors unless they have a room key. So no riff raff off the street can get up to the guest rooms. THUMBS UP! As far as my room, well I had a corner unit which suited me just fine on the 11th floor. From the window I was able to see the convention center, a water/amusement park and the mountains. How I miss the mountains! The size of the room would comfortably fit two people and had a decent sized bathroom. The general cleanliness of the room for my stay was always spot on as well as at check in. I found the bed and pillows to be quite comfortable. I usually toss and turn at night here at home but the minute my head hit the pillow I was out like a light. As for the noise some have mentioned I didn't really notice any. I would suggest that one might ask for a corner unit if available. That way you only have one room next to you and are away from the elevator. I didn't try out the restaurant during my stay but at night it seemed like a happening place for those whom I assume were staying at the hotel. Now, would I stay here again? YUPPERS! Oh yes, I forgot the hotel is also very close to all forms of public transport and walking distance to some great places to get your grub on! So all in all yes I would stay here again and highly suggest you do as well! Enjoy the stay and comfy bed!

Room Tip: Get a corner unit! Quieter and you get a slight view.

“3.5 - 4 star”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Booked the Crown Plaza late through Priceline and was decently happy with the results.

Parking situation was a little unexpected. You pull into their garage yourself, which is shared with monthly parking users. Must take an elevator to the lobby.

Once their, check in was simple. They charge parking to your room credit card and activate your room card to let you out. Going up to the room requires using your room card in the elevator to access the upper floors.

Rooms are somewhat how you'd expect a 3.5-4 star hotel to be. Flat screen tvs. desk, comfortable bed.

Great location on the southern part of the 16th street mall (actually 1.5 blocks off the mall)

“only if you are desperate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

here's the deal, I wasn't anticipating staying in a luxury hotel, what I was anticipating was getting a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed.

My experience:
1. walls so thin that you could hear the conversations going on in the other rooms... loudly and all hours of the night. Not yelling just general conversation.
2. a thermostat that was possessed! I would put the thermostat on 69 at bed time and would wake up with the temp at almost 80 degrees.
3. on my last day at the hotel I heard a tapping on my door... at 8:00 a.m. I actually wasn't even sure if it was my hotel door but someone opened my door and started to come in. I jumped up and yelled for them to stop (thank god for the door stopper). When I opened the door and looked out it was the housekeeper, at 8:00 a.m. on a saturday night! unbelievable!

I was not impressed and never will stay at onther one of these hotels!

Room Tip: go to a different hotel.

“Great Location, Average Rooms, OK Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My wife and I were at this hotel for a romantic getaway and found the some positives about the place. First and foremost, the location can't be beat as it is right next to the 16th street mall and walking distance to all major downtown sights. The lobby is underwhelming and the rooms a little clumsy in terms of layout. For example, the renovations featured an ugly brown color featured in the hallways and doors that just gave the hallways and rooms a dark and dank feel. Then, the bathroom fixtures were awkward as the sinks protruded out making you have to reach over to wash your face and brush teeth, etc. However, on the plus side, the beds were comfortable and the service was OK. Overall, a good value if you can get it on Hotwire or Priceline. Also, the free wi-fi is a good perk. Good solid stay overall.

Room Tip: Pay the extra $30 for the suite upgrade. It comes with another bathroom and living area. It's al...

“NEW YEARS BAIT AND SWITCH!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Terrible... the hotel facilities were nice but they charged us 240 for a room near the convention center new years night. The day we went and checked in the sprung a whole list of extra procedures we needed to follow and agree with or forfeit our room. We had to get wrist bands and register so that only people who are registered can get into the hotel after midnight. I bought the hotel for its location and the fact that we could maybe bring some friends back. We also had to go through 3 different levels of security to get back into the hotel and almost did not get let in because a mix up of wrist bands. This place was awful and I hope everyone sees this and knows it. Two thumbs down.

Room Tip: heard the comfort inn did not pull such things and its only a little bit farther

Dear Valued Guest,

We were disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay over the New Years holiday. The demand for downtown hotel rooms and extra security measures is unfortunately, necessary to ensure the safety and security of our guests. This is always our number one priority.

Warmest Regards,
