I purchased a ski/stay package at a silent auction, which included a night at the Elevation. We stayed at the Grand Lodge for two nights prior. The Elevation's renovation is substantial, and the property is quite nice. Rooms are spacious and well decorated, and include a nice mini-kitchen set up.
The cons, however, keep me from recommending that anyone pay full price ($300+/night in mid-February). The hotel restaurant (9380) is sub-standard and mismanaged. Service was poor, menu options limited and the restaurant feels like a bad attempt at being hip. Do yourself a favor and skip it. Secondly, the pool area is way too small for a hotel of this size and was completely overrun by children. Not a problem in a spacious outdoor setting, but this was a cramped indoor area that amplified all noise. The hot tub fits five adults at most, and was full every time we tried to use it. Both the Grand Lodge and the Lodge at Mountaineer Square (much cheaper options) have better pool/sauna set ups.
If you can get a deal on a room, I recommend the Elevation. If you don't mind slightly older rooms but better overall amenities, the other two mountain properties are a better bet.
Room Tip: Get a room on the mountain side of the property--otherwise you are looking at the road.
