“One of the best deals in Craig”

Randy and Cindy L. are nice folks and we have stayed there several years on our annual hunting trip to Craig. We have always found the rooms clean and the staff and management friendly and helpful. It is not the Ritz-Carlton, but a nice place to stay. I am surprised by some of the comments on here and elsewhere. We are staying ther again this year. No, I did not get an endorsement or discount for this review! _-Steve H., Mount Vernon, WA

“Run Down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

The building is a bit run down and creaky. Steep staircase up to our room, which was essentially a two-room suite, but the furniture, walls, bathroom, and bedding were worse-for-wear. Window screens were torn, air-conditioner was weak, and one room was really hot. It gets two stars for being a decent price, but I'm not sure it was worth it.

Thank you for taking the time to write and let us know about your stay. We have taken steps to correct the problems that you identified. We cannot change the stairs, but only 5 of our 23 rooms are on the second floor. We hope that we can offer you a better visit if you return to this area.

“Comfortable, friendly, fun!”

We arrived late and found the attendant readying our key for late arrival, even though we hadn't requested it. The room was set up more like a very small efficiency than a standard room, and that made it far more fun. The full kitchen was a nice surprise, and the proximity to City Market made it convenient to have it at our disposal. The decorations were cute and quirky (our room had a buffalo theme), and it felt much homier than a normal room. Some people may prefer more generic surroundings, but I'm much more apt to go for the local option, because you almost always find nice surprises like the Elk Run Inn. Thanks everyone!

“HIGHLY Overpriced”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2009

My husband and I stayed here for one night as a quick place to rest during our road trip. My initial reaction when we drove up was, "THIS cost us nearly 100 dollars?!?!" But we gave it a chance anyway. I am not the kind of person to write reviews, I have never done this before. I am very patient and I never bring up (or hardly ever notice) problems at hotels, and I have stayed at many hotels. But, I had to make an exception for this hotel because it truly was THAT BAD! I didn't have a problem with the room size, but I did have an issue when I went to use the bathroom and found pee drops and hair on the seat. Once I cleaned that up, I looked up at the bathroom door and noticed a used towel hanging from the clip. Then, as my husband walked in, he was upset because there were numerous middle aged men outside in the parking lot where our car was parked, and many of them were sipping out of paper bags (beer?) and acting very trashy. That didn't bother me so much, but our room just continued to get worse and worse, the sink had hair all over it, the shower curtain smelled like nicotine, there was only 1 towel (we think that someone checked into our room just to take a shower and the bathroom was not cleaned after them). Needless to say, from a very patient, courteous guest, I was very upset and didn't sleep a wink thinking about how I felt cheated by this hotel. I had numerous thoughts of going back to the lobby and telling them that this wasn't working out- it was really the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. I feel so cheated- if I wanted a dirty room I would have stayed at a much cheaper hotel. My husband and I thought a 92 dollar room would be nice- but in this case we were wrong. I don't want anyone else to make the mistake we did- this place truly left us feeling down and we totally feel like our money went to waste. Stay at a more well known hotel chain in Craig, you won't be sorry like us!

I would like to apologize for the problems you encountered during your stay. Please do not suffer through an uncomfortable experience at any hotel. If you find a situation that does not meet your expectations, please notify the Front Desk at once and give them a chance to rectify the situation. The problems you mention are not acceptable and are not the standard at our motel. If you had brought this to our attention when you first noticed it we could have moved you to a clean room or otherwise fixed the problems. Unfortunately mistakes do happen, but we cannot fix them if we do not know about them. You would have been able to sleep more comfortably and we would have had another satisfied guest. Please contact the motel directly so that we can get more followup information. Thank you.

“Peace in a Blizzard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2007

We were finally able to make it to Craig after a five day travel disaster going through the Denver blizzard. The owners helped us find the different activities that we wanted to try (skiing, puppet show, movies) as well as advised us of bad weather coming. We were able to check out early enough to miss the second wave of the blizzard and make it home. It was nice to have the suite with a kitchen area (with full size frig) and separate bedroom. Thank you, Randy and Cindy!
