If this property did not have the familiar "sun" logo of the Days franchise, I would have not stayed here. But in this case, I followed the sun to a place that is not the typical standard of the Days Inn brand. Just because they have the Days sign out front, throw an old computer in the corner (business center?) and offer a "complimentary continental" breakfast, doesn't make this a true Days. Keep in mind that this is not a hotel, but a motel. Direct access units are average at the best. The beds are worn and uncomfortable (though it appears there may be an effort to replace mattresses since there is a container in the park lot with old mattresses in it). The unit decor is typical of late 1980s/early 1990s and doesn't appear to have experienced many upgrades, not even with the linen. Thought I did not find stains or much in the case of dirt, this is one of those places that you're suspicious of everything being dirty. One of my colleagues decided to opt out of staying in a room by herself because she felt the hotel was "unpleasant and seedy" so she ended up rooming with another colleague of ours. 1 out of the 3 units had unpleasant odours. Cigarette smoke periodically creped into my "non-smoking" room. This is a one of those places that makes you thankfully for your last hotel stay or your own bed at home. If I was returning to the Colorado Springs area, I would let the sun set on this property and find another place to lay my head.
