“Nice and clean!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

This hotel room is like staying in your friend's guest room. There is a closet, wood floors and you aren't afraid to sit on the bed spread. The bathroom is nice size with a great shower head and large tub. There is a tv, fridge, microwave, coffee mugs, wine glasses and a box of tea.

You park right ourside your room and the location is great - minutes from Old Colorado City, Manitu Springs, Pikes Peak, Cave Dwellings and Garden of the Gods. There is a Sonic and Safeway across the street.

There is traffic noise but I found it calming, like ocean waves. You just hear steady traffic and not starts and stops and the traffic ceases after dark until around 8. However, I am very partial to noises when I sleep and the noise never bothered me.

“Very Good and Comfortable Extended Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I stayed here several weeks while I was waiting to move into a more permanent place. Mike was friendly and accommodating and worked with me to make sure my extended stay was a positive one. The other guests were friendly and I always felt safe and secure on the premise. I highly recommend this hotel for a short and/or extended stay.

“We loved the San Ayre!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

My fiance and I originally booked a standard guest room, but upon our arrival we were upgraded free of charge to the cottage. We really didn't need the extra room but took advantage of the full kitchen and living room. We enjoyed sipping coffee in the morning on the front porch with views of the mountains and especially enjoyed winding down in the evenings with a glass of wine, pizza, and a good movie. I felt like was at home and was able to really relax. Thanks Mike! We'll be back and will certainly recommend others to stay at the San Ayre.

“Beyond expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

The owner Mike wowed us with his excellent service right from the start. He knew that we were going to Jake and Telly Greek Cuisine, when we got there, the place was fully booked for the night, but then we saw Mike who told us that he had called the restaurant up and informed them that he had two guests coming. What better service can you get elsewhere?

We read the comments from other reviewers. We have to say that the exterior of the hotel is deceptive and nothing like the room itself. The bed is clean and comfortable. each room is beautifully designed, not forgetting to mention an outdoor area for an afternoon rest and views of Pikes Peak.

Our advise is, try this place and don't bother looking at those chain hotels.

“Clean - small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We were a bit disappointed after reading the favorable reviews. The hotel WAS clean. The bed was VERY comfortable. The towels were absorbable. Mike was very nice. We were only staying 2 nights on a hiking trip so don't spend a lot of time in a room but, despite having a refrigerator & microwave there was little space to prepare and eat food (breakfast & make sandwiches for lunch). We both travel with computers for our work so with one desk... it was a challenge. We were also "put off" by the location in a less desireable part of town - between Colorado City and Manitou Springs. But, we had no problems. The highway was busy throught the evening and early AM so no nice Colorado sleeping air. Guess we should have looked into the suite. There was a Saveway grocery store across the street. I would probably not stay again.

Room Tip: Sounds like if you need room, try the cottage or the suite.
