I couldn't find the hotel as it was tucked behind the Days inn. After driving up and down Circle a couple times, I saw it. I walked in the Super 8 doors and saw a run down lobby with a sign pointing me around the corner (to the Days Inn Lobby). When I arrived, the owner was having a fight with a Colorado Highway construction crew. He claimed he paid for the week..the owner claimed he didn't, had too many people in a single room and was illegally using the hotel's water. The shouting turned to cursing and the police arriving, with the owner's wife going back and forth between checking me in calling the police. The thought that this fight might result in guns being out, actually crossed my mind.
My room was at the end of the hall near the back stairway. The main hall was very dirty and the parking lot seemed to have many characters hanging around. I wouldn't have felt safe, if were not for the police that had arrived for the construction team.
The walls are paper thin. There was a family across the hall that had two to three rooms. They propped the doors open with the door jam and then for the next 90 minutes proceed to go from room to room with the doors slamming against the door jam. I finally had to say something. The stairwell door was coming off its hinges, and it slammed every time someone went out the back door. I was awoken at 6 a.m. by the slamming door.
The room was pretty dirty. The shower rod was installed halfway over the shower and the curtain kept sliding open. I even had the towels from the last person's stay in my tub...disgusting!
I skipped the free breakfast due to the mob scene. When I checked out, the owner's wife started lecturing one of the staff about not having her cell phone on that morning. Apparently, they wanted her to come in earlier, but had no way of reaching her.
