My husband and I got transfered here from Schofield Barracks in Hawaii to Ft. Carson, Colorado. The inn on base was full. They recommended Apallo Suites. It seemed nice from the outside. There were squirrels running about, being from Hawaii, squirrels are a novelty.
As we got in the building, we had a bad feeling. There were questionable looking people hanging around outside their doors not really doing anything. They looked like they were on drugs and dealing them as well. There was also an unusual amount of unattended toddlers running around the parking lot and other various places. When we opened the door to our hallway, you were hit with a grotesque smell of crappy marajuana and harsh cleaning materials topped with public bathroom air sanitizer.
The room was much worse. In the middle of the hallway was a bucket with a calking gun and a dirty rag. On the inside of the door there was obvious fire damage. The door had two deadbolts and a sliding lock. The carpets were pulled up in places, the walls were dirty and the heating unit had been broken apart. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It looked and felt old and grimy. The couch did as well. The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet and tub were filthy. I thought i was being too critical, but when my husband and i sat down on the couch and started watching tv, we both started to itch badly. We immediatly started looking for another place to stay.
The fact that this place was army recommended is increadibly disapointing. It was obviously a place that was dangerous. I expected to find a used condom and a chalk outline somewhere in the room. I would not reccomend this place to anyone, even if i hated them.
